WALTER LYCHOWID
2008
WALTER LYCHOWID of Lethbridge passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, March 12, 2008 at the age of 82 years.
He is survived by his loving children Donna (Darryl), Judy (Terry) and Debbie (Richard), grandchildren Paul (Rita) and Christine (Jason) and five great grandchildren. He is also survived by his sister Julie and brother Steve.
He was predeceased by his loving wife Monica and grandson Ryan.
Dad worked hard all of his life to take care of his family. We love him dearly and he will be forever missed.
At dad’s request, a private family service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Heart & Stroke Foundation, #207, 542 - 7th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 2H1.

DOROTHY LACEY
1919 - 2008


MRS. DOROTHY M. LACEY, beloved wife of the late John Lacey of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at home on Friday, February 1, 2008 at the age of 88 years.
She is survived by her children Patricia Lacey (Rick Burley) of Lethbridge and Catherine (Wayne) Petersen of Pollock Pines, California, grandchildren; Nicole (Keith) Anderson of Calgary, Joey Petersen of Las Vegas, Nevada, Danyelle Petersen (Ryan Lopez) of Huntington Beach, California and Kelly Petersen of Orlando, Florida as well as 1 great grandson Tyler Lopez. She is also survived by her brother Dick Gruenwald of Lethbridge and numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
She was predeceased by her husband John in 2004, siblings Marguerite, Irene, Mildred, Ben, Evelyn and Wilfred.
Dorothy was born November 13, 1919 in Warner where she was raised and educated. She met and married John in 1946 and together lived in Lethbridge their whole lives. Dorothy worked in the China Department at Hoyt’s Hardware for over 30 years. She was a long time member of St. Patrick’s Church as well as the CWL. She will be missed.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PATRICK’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 917 – 4th Avenue South, Lethbridge on Friday, February 8, 2008 at 10:00 A.M. with Reverend Tim Boyle Celebrant.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.
In memory of Dorothy, donations may be made to the Society of St. Vincent de Paul, 26 Canyon Blvd. W., Lethbridge, AB, T1K 6X6.

LAURENCE LUTWICK
2008


DR. LAURENCE EVERETT LUTWICK, beloved husband of Mildred “Millie” Lutwick of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, January 23, 2008 at the age of 86 years.
Besides Millie, he is survived by his children; Gerald Lutwick of Lethbridge, Janice Pawlak of Lethbridge, Blaine (Marilyn) Lutwick of Bentley, Richard (Susan) Lutwick of Lethbridge, Myrna (Al) Doktorchik of Drumheller and Carol (Jake) Kuyten of Calgary as well as 10 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren.
He was predeceased by his son James Laurence in 1951.
Larry grew up on the family farm in Macadam, New Brunswick. After serving in the Royal Canadian Navy, Larry attended McGill University and the University of Saskatchewan, graduating with a PhD in soil science. While at McGill, Larry met his sweetheart Millie and they were married on May 8, 1948. A career with Agriculture Canada took the family to Vauxhall in 1956 and Lethbridge in 1959. Retiring in 1979, Larry and Millie moved to Powell River, B.C. where they lived until 2002 before returning to Lethbridge. “Mr. Wonderful” will be remembered for his captivating sense of humour and his winning personality. His loving wife and 7 children were always first and foremost in his life.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, January 28, 2008 at 1:00 P.M.

PAUL LOW HORN

Paul Stanislaus Low Horn

PAUL LOW HORN, beloved father of Marie, Olivia and Paul Jr., of the Blood Reserve, passed away on Monday, October 29, 2007 at the age of 54 years.
Paul was born on November 13, 1953 in Cardston, AB to James (Jim) and Mary Rose Low Horn. Paul was raised in Bull Horn and later spent most of his life in Moses Lake. He received his education from St. Mary’s High School and Bow Island College as well as taking various training programs to assist him in his career pursuits. When he was younger he was actively involved in various sports including the Senators family volleyball team. Paul was a devoted and committed member of the Catholic Church. His faith and belief was shown in various church activities and gatherings such as his joyful participation in the Church choir and providing music for the Ultreya at the time of his eldest daughter’s completion. Paul also participated and completed his Cursillo and continued to support others pursuing their Catholic faith. Later in life, Paul’s faith led him to complete 4 years of the piercing Sundance with Morris Crow. Paul was also actively involved in other religious gatherings such as the Gospel festivals, travelling as far as Washington and British Columbia with his siblings to attend.
Paul was especially known as a talented musician to his family and friends. He enjoyed singing, writing songs and participating in various bands throughout his life. The bands included Cha-coal, Low Horn Country Band, Sunrise Gospel Band and various independent solo acts. He was especially proud when his grandson Dylan developed the same passion for the love of music.
Paul’s employment history consisted of numerous occupations. These included working as an orderly at the Blood Indian Hospital, a Water Truck driver with the Blood Tribe Public Works Department, a School Bus Driver, a Handi-bus Driver for FCSS, and a Carpenter with Kainai Industries and Whisper Creek. At the time of his death he was a labourer with Temple City Housing.
Paul also enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He was especially proud of his grandchildren and waited patiently for the newest member to be born which would have been his first grand daughter. He enjoyed watching powwows and playing Bingo. Paul was best known for his sense of humour and his love of music.
Paul is survived by his children; Marie (Leroy) Crazy Boy, Olivia (Leonard) Crying Head and Paul Jr., grandchildren; Dylan, Kiefer, Trent and Aapinakos, siblings; Dale Sr. (Sylvia), Theresa, Robert (Genevieve), Rosaline (Thomas), James, Rose Marie (Henry) and Edward as well as numerous nieces and nephews.
Paul was predeceased by his parents James (Jim) and Mary Rose Low Horn, sisters Elizabeth Wadsworth and Virginia, brothers Adrian and Patrick Low Horn, aunts Gertrude Fox, Margaret Young Pine and Philomena Hairy Bull, uncles Albert Wolf Child, Lawrence Hairy Bull, Alfred Hairy Bull and David Crane Chief, nephews Edward Holy Singer, Godfrey Wadsworth and Luke Christian Cross Child.
A Funeral Mass will be held at ST. MARY’S IMMACULATE CONCEPTION CHURCH, Blood Reserve on Saturday, November 3, 2007 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Pawel Andrasz Celebrant.
Interment to follow at the Blood Band Cemetery.

KAREN LOUISE LAING
1949 - 2007
MRS. KAREN LOUISE LAING, beloved wife of Mr. Brian Laing, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, August 23, 2007 at the age of 58 years.
Besides her husband Brian, Karen is survived by her sons John (Janice) of Medicine Hat and Jamie (Teresa) of Lethbridge as well as her pride and joy granddaughters Stephanie, Jillian and Madison. She will also be deeply missed by her mother Dorothy Young and brothers Don (Susan) and Bruce (Heather) all of Cranbook, BC. Karen is also survived by her uncle Keith Young (Janet) of White Rock, BC and uncle Dennis Falconer (Betty) of Lethbridge as well as numerous extended family members.
She was predeceased by her father Murray Young.
Born in Neepawa, Manitoba, on February 24, 1949, Karen moved with her family from Portage La Prairie, Manitoba to Cranbrook, BC in 1966. She married Brian Laing in a ceremony at the Laing family ranch near Wardner, BC on September 5, 1970.
Brian and Karen lived in Fernie, Wardner, Vancouver and Creston BC as well as Provost, Three Hills, Claresholm, Vermilion and Lethbridge, Alberta. Karen worked primarily in banking and retail. Most people will remember her as a cashier at the Home Hardware in West Lethbridge.
Karen’s love of family and friends, teddy bears (hence her nickname “Bearsy”), chocolate and Hawaiian vacations will forever be remembered. She set a wonderful example for her granddaughters with her never ending courage, her wonderful sense of humor and her always positive outlook on life. Karen was a devoted wife, mother, nana and friend.
Karen’s warm, gentle and friendly way with people was her trademark. She will be remembered by family and friends as the one to turn to for advice and support about anything you needed to talk about.
Karen fought a courageous battle against colorectal cancer. In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to the Canadian Cancer Society, 317-10th Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1J 2M7.
A Celebration of Life will be held at ST. ANDREW’S PRESBYTERIAN CHURCH, 1818 – 5th Avenue South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, August 29, 2007 at 2:00 P.M. with Reverend Hugh Jack officiating.

BERNICE LYNESS
2007
MRS. BERNICE LYNESS beloved daughter of the late Daniel and Erma Nelson of Saskatchewan passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Monday, August 6, 2007 at the age of 94 years.
A Visitation was held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Wednesday, August 8, 2007 at 7:00 P.M.
Burial took place in Tompkins Cemetery, Tompkins, Saskatchewan on Thursday, August 9, 2007.
