JOURNOUD, PIERRE GEORGE
1933-2010
PIERRE JOURNOUD, beloved husband of Gurli Journoud of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, July 6, 2010 at the age of 77 years.

Besides his loving wife he is survived by; 5 children, 5 stepchildren, many grandchildren as well as 3 sisters and 1 brother.

Pierre was predeceased by his parents and 2 brothers.

JAGIELSKI, ALEXANDRA
1946-2010
ALEXANDRA JAGIELSKI of Coaldale, passed away at the Coaldale Care Centre on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 at the age of 87 years.

Alexandra was predeceased by her parents in Russia, her first love and husband Henryk Kot and her second husband Stan Jagielski.

Left to mourn her are her children; George (Sharon) Jagielski, Jane Jagielski and Elaine Jagielski; her grandchildren Travis (Shannon), Joel (Phoebe), and Everett Jagielski; her great-grandchildren Brenden, Katarina, Anjah, Alexander, Gaven and Brooke as well as relatives in Russia.

Born in Belgorod, Russia, Alexandra was taken during the war at the age of 16 years to a work camp in Germany. In her young years she was a track star and swimmer and she had a beautiful singing voice. She met and married her Polish husband and her heart’s love, Henryk Kot, in Germany where George was born to them in 1946. Henryk died the same year when George was 6 weeks old. Alexandra married Stan Jagielski and at the end of the war emigrated to Canada in 1950 where she worked in the beet fields around Raymond until they bought the farm near Coaldale where she raised George, Jane and Elaine.

Mom worked hard and sacrificed much for her family. She will be so missed by her grandchildren who have great “Grandma J” stories that they love to share.

She has resided at the Coaldale Care Centre ever since January of 2007 where she received love, care and compassion from everyone there for which we are so grateful.
A Prayer Service will be held at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513 – 23rd Avenue, Coaldale, AB, on Monday, May 24, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. AMBROSE CATHOLIC CHURCH, 1513 – 23rd Avenue, Coaldale, AB, on Tuesday, May 25, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Tomy Manjaly, Celebrant.

Reception to follow with interment at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge, AB, at 3:00 P.M.

JOHNSON, DR. RALPH LIMBERT
1924-2010
Dr. Ralph Johnson, beloved husband of Carol for the last 59 years, passed away suddenly at home in Lethbridge on Monday March 22 at the age of 86 years.

Along with Carol he is survived by his family; David (Debbie) of Victoria, Sydony (Alan) of Taber, Leslie (Edward) of Lethbridge, and Jeffery (Theresa) of Perth Australia. He will be deeply missed by his 10 grandchildren, and 9 great grandchildren.

Ralph began practicing medicine in Lethbridge in 1957 as a Specialist in General Surgery with the Campbell Clinic. In addition to helping to raise the family he also found the time to pursue many other interests including woodworking, welding, electrical, golf, jewellery making, and cartooning. He loved to play the piano and the organ, and we enjoyed his melodic serenades.

After retiring from his medical practice in 1984, he turned his attention to other endeavours in our community. He was an active member of the Kiwanis Club for many years and served on the Board of the Lethbridge Foundation. He taught Spanish at the Seniors Center, and he built sets for New West Theatre productions.

We will all miss his quest for knowledge, his thought provoking questions, his rapier wit, and the caring he showed for all the people he met along the way.

A Memorial Service will be held at THE CHURCH OF JESUS CHRIST OF LATTER DAY SAINTS, Scenic Drive Chapel, 2410-28th Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Monday, March 29, 2010 at 1:30 P.M.

JOEVENAZZO, ANNE
1921-2010
MRS. ANNE JOEVENAZZO, beloved wife of Mr. Jim Joevenazzo of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, March 12, 2010 at the age of 88 years.

Anne is the loving mother of Arnel (Joyce) of Lethbridge, Keith (Sylvia) of Vulcan, Patricia (Mike) Kensley of Lethbridge, Terry (Wendy) of Calgary and a loving sister to Edna Kennedy and Bernyce Nelson. Anne is also survived by 10 grandchildren; Chris (Andrea), Greg (Trina), Mark Joevenazzo, Jill Joevenazzo, Riley (Serena), Paul, Jenelle Feller, Tabitha, Larkin, and Luke Joevenazzo; 2 great-grandchildren Lia and Jake Joevenazzo.

She was predeceased by her parents Eli and Emma Nelson, brothers Charles, Albert, Leonard, sister Gae, great-grandson Anthony Joevenazzo and son in law Joe Feller.

Anne was born in Pincher Creek, AB, on December 27, 1921. She was one of nine children born to Eli and Emma Nelson. She received her teaching certificate from Normal School and started teaching in a one room school house at Jenner-Osborne School in the spring of 1942. She met her husband, James, while teaching in Shaughnessey in 1943. 65 years ago they were married September 25, 1944, in the basement of the new St. Patrick’s Roman Catholic Church in Lethbridge.

She continued teaching kindergarten from the basement of their home until her children were older. She returned to teaching at Assumption School until she and Jim retired in 1989. They traveled the world together and volunteered their time with many organizations. She was a staunch supporter of her Roman Catholic faith, the rosary and the Catholic Women’s League. Mom had a great love for music, dancing, and her grandchildren. Her caring, wit and smile will be fondly remembered and greatly missed by all who knew her.

A Prayer Service will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 -12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday March 19, 2010 at 8:00 P.M. with Sharon Hagel Officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be Celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405-12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday March 20, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Tim Boyle, Celebrant.

Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

THELMA MAY JONES
1922-2010
MRS. THELMA MAY JONES, beloved wife of the late Mr. Harold Jones of Winnipeg, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, January 17, 2010 at the age of 88 years.

Thelma is survived by her daughter, Teresa Jones and her son Keith (Gail) Jones of Lethbridge. Thelma is also survived by her Grandchildren: Scott and Ashley Jones.
Thelma was born in Cardiff, Wales and immigrated to Canada in 1957. Her family was raised in Toronto, Ontario and Winnipeg, Manitoba. After the passing of her husband, Harold Jones in 1991, whom she cared for dearly, Thelma relocated to Lethbridge in 1993 where she resided until her passing.

A Private Family Service will be held at a later date.

GERALDINE MARGARET JACKSON
1921 - 2009
GERALDINE MARGARET JACKSON, passed away at the St. Michael's Health Care Centre, on Sunday, August 9, 2009 at the age of 88 and a half years.



Geraldine was born January 25, 1921 on the family farm at Swalwell, AB. She was the eldest child born to Claude and Gladys Webb. She moved to California in the early '60's where she married Barney Jackson. They enjoyed 25 years together before Barney passed away in 1993.



Geraldine is survived by her brother Claude "Bud" (Shirley) Webb of Lethbridge and 2 sisters - Cloene (Frank) Lindop of Calgary and Clarabelle (Lavern) Witwer of Red Deer.



At Geraldine's request there will not be a funeral service. Her cremated remains will be inurned in Livermore, California beside her late husband.

WENDELL JONES
1916 - 2009
WENDELL ALEXANDER JONES, beloved husband of the late Ethel Jones passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Friday, April 03, 2009 at the age of 93 years. Wendell was the loving father of Gary (Laine) Jones of Calgary AB and Wendy (Ross) Charlesworth of High River AB. He was a devoted grandfather to Sarah and Michael Jones, Joel Charlesworth and Jamie (Derek) Chamberlain, and a caring great grandfather to Jasmine Charlesworth and Eddie Chamberlain. He is also survived by his sister and best friend Toni (late Stan) Fraser of Lethbridge AB. Wendell was predeceased by his wife and lifelong companion Ethel Jones, son Kenneth Jones, sister Wilma Shields and close friends Henry and Bert. Wendell was born in 1916 in Johnstown North Dakota and was raised and educated in the Diamond City area. In December of 1941 he married his soul mate Ethel and joined the RCAF only a year later, serving his country overseas until 1946. After returning to Canada he and his wife moved to Park Lake and started their family. Wendell spent his life working for the LNID, retiring in Lethbridge in 1980 where he lived until the present time. Wendell was a crossword puzzle enthusiast and a very avid reader, conquering novel after novel right up until a few months before his passing. As well, he enjoyed gardening, bowling and working with his hands, doing everything from building his own home to helping the family with projects. His welcoming smile and great sense of humor will be remembered by all, in particular the special friends he made at River Ridge. At Wendell's request there will be a private family service to be held at a later date. If desired, donations may be made in lieu of flowers to the Kidney Foundation of Canada, 438 - 10th ST. N. Lethbridge AB. T1H 2C7.

MRS. KAY JENSEN, beloved wife of the late 'Byng' Jensen, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital with her family at her side on Friday, March 28, 2008 at the age of 84 years. Kay leaves to cherish her memory her children Bob (Marj) Jensen of Calgary, Pat Bodnar of Picture Butte, Gloria (Irv) Martens of Lethbridge as well as 7 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren. She is also survived by Ron (Neva) Aitken of Pincher Creek, Helen Charlesworth of Picture Butte, Gail (Sallie) Aitken of Aldergrove and Bev (Len) Herring of Lethbridge. She was predeceased by her parents, one sister Sheila Zonneveld, one grandson Sean Martens and one son-in-law Bill Bodnar. Kay worked for Automatic Electric and was a loyal member of the Picture Butte Legion Ladies Auxiliary and the Royal Purple for the past 50 years. The most important thing to Kay was her family and friends. Her other passions included curling, travelling and volunteering. However, what brought Kay great pleasure was her ability to bake, quilt, knit and crochet wonderful handmade gifts which she lovingly shared with all. A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, April 4, 2008 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Elizabeth Brown officiating. Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery. Flowers are graciously declined, those who wish may donate to a charity of one's choice.
