KOSHMAN, KATHLEEN JOAN
1923-2010
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of KATHLEEN JOAN KOSHMAN, beloved wife of the late Alex Koshman, on Monday, August 9, 2010 at the age of 86 years.
Kathleen was born in Bethnal Green, England, on September 11, 1923. She married Alex in 1943 where she embarked on her great life’s adventure as an English War Bride starting in Shaughnessy, AB., as a coal miner’s wife. After many years, Kath and Alex resided in Lethbridge until her passing.
Kathleen leaves to mourn her loving children; Bette of England, Terry, Ken, Edward (Rose), Chris (Peggy) and Jennifer (Sandy) all of Lethbridge; grandchildren; Jordan, Tanner, Ashley, Everley, Justin, Derrick and Stephanie as well as great-grandchildren; William and Dominik. She is also survived by her brothers and sisters; Alf (Sylvia), Sybil and Janet, sister-in-law Audrey Koshman as well as numerous nieces and nephews, including her great-niece Victoria who was very special to her. She also leaves behind her best friend and adopted sister Joan Arelis.
The family would especially like to thank Koryn Godsalve who became her buddy, as well as Lethbridge Family Services, Linda Roth and her team as well as the nursing staff on 4C & 4B who cared for mom.
A Celebration of Kathleen’s Life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Friday, August 13, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Canon James P. Robinson officiating.
A Private Graveside Service will be held at Mountain View Cemetery prior to the service.
In lieu of flowers, it was mom’s wish to have donations made in her name to the Lethbridge Humane Society (SPCA), Box 783, Lethbridge, Alberta, T1H 3Z6.

KOVACS, JOHN
1920-2010
JOHN KOVACS, beloved husband of the late Jolane Kovacs of Coaldale, passed away peacefully after a brief illness at the Coaldale Health Centre on Wednesday, July 14, 2010 at the age of 89 years.
He was the loving father of Jolane (Fred) of Osoyoos, B.C.; John (Susan) of Calgary and their sons Matthew and Jesse; Kenneth (Beverly) of Calgary and their children Chelsea, Sydney and Adam; Donald (Debbie) of Lethbridge and their daughter Marina.
John was born September 6, 1920 in Szendro, Hungary and came to Canada in 1929, settling in Raymond. He moved to Hardieville, completing his education, moving to Shaugnessy, helping on the family farm and then working in the coalmine for over 15 years.
John met Jolane Nagy in 1943, married on May 5, 1945 and spent 55 loving years together before her passing on May 26, 2000.
In March of 1958, John and Jolane purchased the family farm near Coaldale, where they worked side by side, raising and educating their children, which was a priority for them even through the lean years.
John had a love of the land, a deep love for his family, and took great pride in the accomplishments of his children and grandchildren. He was a loving and caring husband, dad and grandpa who will be sadly missed.
A Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Monday, July 19, 2010 at 1:00 P.M.
Interment to follow at Mountain View Cemetery.

KENNEDY, CHANTELLE MARIE
1985-2010
It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden death of our beautiful Chantelle on Wednesday, May 19, 2010 in Lethbridge, Alberta at 24 years of age.
Chantelle was born in Burnaby, BC, on November 6, 1985. Her family moved to Mission where she attended school, graduating from Hatzic Secondary School. She moved to Lethbridge in the fall of 2008 to become the beloved wife of Derek.
Left to celebrate Chantelle’s life is her loving husband, Derek, her grandparents, Jeanne and Denzil Libonati, Lorraine Kennedy and Vera Campbell, parents Cheryl and Dan Libonati, parents-in-law Karen and Warren Kennedy, her siblings; sister Sarah (partner Jeremy and niece Elizabeth Wade), brother Blair (partner Sarah and niece Ava), brother Doug, half sister Danielle Libonati and brother-in-law Travis Kennedy as well as aunts, uncles and cousins from both sides of her extended family.
Two Celebration of Life services for Chantelle will be held:
• In Mission, BC, on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at 12:00 P.M. at the Best Western, 32281 Lougheed Highway, Mission, BC, V2V 1A3
and
• In Stirling, AB, on Friday, June 4, 2010 at 2:00 P.M. at the Stirling Lions Community Centre, 417 2 St Stirling, AB, T0K 2E0.

KANYS, JONAS
1924-2010
MR. JONAS KANYS beloved husband of Mrs. Janina Kanys of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at the age of 85 years.
Besides his loving wife Janina, Jonas is survived by his son Arnold (Heather) Kanys of Lethbridge and Heather’s two sons, Jason (Beth) Adams of Calgary and Jonathan (Julie) Lutz of Lethbridge as well as numerous relatives in Lithuania.
Jonas was born in Siesikai, Lithuania on August 26, 1924 to Mykolas and Stefanie Robosevskaite. He had four sisters and one brother. Jonas grew up and was educated in Lithuania.
During the Second World War in 1944 he was forced out of his country and ended up working in Germany. In 1945 he went to Italy to work for the US Army. In 1948 he immigrated to Canada where he worked on a farm in Welling, AB until late fall. He then moved to Lethbridge and worked in the construction industry as a finishing carpenter.
In 1951, he married his sweetheart Janina Gepneryte. Then in 1958 Jonas was very happy to announce the birth of his only son Arnold, who he is very proud of. Then in the year 2000 Jonas was very happy to see his son Arnold married to Heather, who he adored.
Jonas worked in Canada for 36 years until his retirement in 1984. During his retirement he spent many hours studying geography which was a real passion of his.

KORZENOWSKI, ERNIE
1946-2010
ERNIE KORZENOWSKI passed away Sunday, April 4, 2010 at the age of 63 years to be with his risen Saviour.
Ernie leaves to mourn his wife Sandy, three stepchildren: Amy of Lethbridge, Jeff (Vanessa) of Lintlaw, SK, grandchildren Kayla and Chase, Dan (Melasi) of Coaldale, daughter Gina and her family of Winnipeg, MB.
He was born June 28, 1946 in Grandview, Manitoba, the youngest of 6 children for John and Ann Korzenowski. Ernie was predeceased by his parents and brothers: Maurice, Richard and Walter and sisters: Agnes and Leona.
Ernie is also survived by Sandy’s mom, Lee Locken of Brandon, MB, and will be missed by her sister, four brothers and their families.
Ernie left home at 14 to continue his education and begin his career life. He attended Notre Dame College in Wilcox, SK, where he played hockey on the infamous Notre Dame Hounds hockey team. His career took him from the mines in Manitoba to high-rise construction on Calgary just to name a few.
Ernie met and married Sandy in Moose Jaw while working at the Providence Hospital where he spent many hours volunteering and fundraising to improve the quality of life for long-term care patients. Ernie loved hiking and enjoyed nature, especially at his favourite place, Waterton lakes National Park. He also enjoyed gardening and woodworking and loved refurbishing lost treasures and giving them to someone less fortunate.
Ernie was on the Board of Directors at the Lethbridge Soup Kitchen and spent many hours volunteering to help those in need.
He was a faithful member of First Baptist Church and will be sadly missed by family and friends.
A Memorial Service will be held at FIRST BAPTIST CHURCH, 1614-5th Ave., S., Lethbridge, AB on Friday, April 9, 2010 at 3:00 P.M. with Reverend Dr. Bruce Martin officiating.

KLASSEN, MARY
1928-2010
MARY KLASSEN (nee Braun) beloved wife of John, passed away peacefully at home on February 26, 2010.
Mary was born on September 23, 1928 in Osterwick, South Russia, the fourth child of Johann and Maria (Paetkau) Braun. She and her mother and siblings immigrated to Canada in 1948 after much hardship in Russia and Germany. After living briefly in Saskatchewan, the family moved to Coaldale in April 1949. Mary married John, her partner for life, on May 27, 1951 and they farmed together in the Coaldale area for almost 50 years.
The welfare of her family, both physically and spiritually, was very important to Mary. She was a very resourceful person, and enjoyed sewing, gardening, and handwork.
Mary is now safely in the arms of her Heavenly Father. She will be missed by her loving husband John and their children Linda (Lorne Owen), Charlotte (George Klassen), and Bev (Keith Moyer). Also mourning her passing are her grandchildren, Geoff and wife Paula, Rachel, Kristen, Jenna, and Dana; her siblings Helen, Elizabeth, Jake and John; and many in-laws and nieces and nephews. Mary was predeceased by her parents, her grandson Chad (in infancy), two brothers, her parents-in-law, and several brothers-in-law.
Interment will be held at the Coaldale Cemetery (Mennonite section) on Tuesday, March 2 at 1:00 pm followed by a Memorial Service at 2:30 pm at the COALDALE MENNONITE CHURCH, 2316 – 17 St., Coaldale.
Memorial donations may be made to Grassroots Assistance in Rural Development (gard) for water projects in Uganda.
A special thank you to Mary’s doctor, the nurses, the therapists, and the home care aides who so faithfully attended to Mary’s needs over the many years of her illness.

KORMOS, MAGDALENE (MAGGIE)

MAGDALENE (MAGGIE) KORMOS - April 25, 1931 – February 13, 2010
It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Maggie Kormos, beloved wife of the late Albert (Bert) Kormos. Maggie passed away at her home in Taber at the age of 78 years.
Mom was born in Lethbridge on April 25, 1931 and spent her childhood growing up on the family farm and attending school in the Coaldale area.
In 1948 Mom and Dad were married and later moved to Raymond. Mom worked at Stone’s Grocery store as well as in the Raymond Post Office. Later they moved to Taber where they owned and operated Massey Ferguson Big Sky Equipment Dealership and Mom was the secretary and bookkeeper for the business.
Along with Dad she was an active member in the Boy Scouts Organization, 50 Plus Club, Indian Hills Golf Club and the First United Church. Mom enjoyed golfing, beating Dad at salmon fishing, gardening, and spending time with her kids and grandkids.
Mom is survived by her son Ron (Sharon), daughter Marie (Bob) Halvorson and grandsons Ryan (Amber) and Darren (Stephanie). She is also survived by her brother Lesley (Shirley) Beres, her brother-in-law John (Cheryl) Kormos and several nieces and nephews.
She was predeceased by her husband Bert, parents George and Terez and infant brother Charles.
A Memorial Service will be held at FIRST UNITED CHURCH, 5th Ave and 13St North Lethbridge on Thursday February 18, 2010 at 2:00 pm with Rev. Dr. Austin Fennell officiating.

KINCHELOE, VIOLET MAY
1914-2010
MRS. VIOLET MAY KINCHELOE (Johnson), beloved wife of the late Mr. John (Johnny) Thomas Kincheloe, passed away on February 3, 2010 at the age of 95.
Violet leaves to cherish her memory, two sons, Roger (Shirley) of Lethbridge and Martin of Toronto.
She will also be fondly remembered by her two granddaughters, Michelle (Andy) Tyslau and Jamie (Kyle) Puchinger, and great-granddaughter Claire Puchinger, along with numerous nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her siblings.
Violet was born on March 11, 1914 to Mary Ellen (Duncan) and William Johnson in Lethbridge. She was educated in Lethbridge, graduated from Calgary Normal School in 1933 and received her Teaching Certificate from the Alberta Department of Education in 1936. Violet taught in Southern Alberta until her marriage to Johnny in 1945 at which time she joined him in their farming venture just outside of Magrath. She moved into Lethbridge with her sons in 1967 after Johnny passed away, where she resided until her passing.
Violet was an avid reader, enjoyed golfing, curling, traveling the world and loved “playing the stocks”.
She will be dearly missed and fondly remembered by her family and friends.

MR. PAUL KRYZANOWSKI
1920-2009
 MR. PAUL KRYZANOWSKI beloved husband of the late Mrs. Elizabeth Kryzanowski, of Lethbridge, passed away at St. Michael’s Health Centre on Friday, December 18, 2009 at the age of 89 years.
He is the loving father of son Douglas (Jean) of Lethbridge, AB., daughter Sandra (Jim Fraser) of Lethbridge, AB., and granddaughter Erin Fraser of Edmonton, AB.
He is also survived by Frank Kryzanowski of Vancouver, B.C.
Paul was predeceased by brothers Peter, Alec, Jim and Tony, also, sisters Anne and Nesta.
Paul was born on July 20, 1920 at Fosston, Sask. He joined the Canadian Army in 1942 and was discharged in 1946. He served as a Gunner. Paul and Elizabeth Faranski were married November 8, 1946, and moved to Alberta in the mid 1950’s to Carmangay, then Coalhurst, and finally to Lethbridge at the Good Samaritans Highlands Centre.
Dad was a barber hairstylist in Carmangay where he also owned the Pool Hall and drove County of Vulcan bus for students of Carmangay to Vulcan. He continued barbering after moving to Coalhurst with a shop in his house and also a shop in Picture Butte. Towards the end of his barbering days, he worked in Lethbridge at the College Mall Barber Shop and retired in 2002.
Dad was an avid fan of the Maple Leafs and Blue Jays. As well, curling was a favourite viewing past time of his, not to forget his pool shooting prowess. Throughout his retirement, Dad enjoyed travelling with his motor home with Bandee, his favourite dog, to fish and camping.
He enjoyed the outdoors and especially gardening at his home in Carmangay and then Coalhurst.
Dad was a person of quiet confidence, and always ready with a quick quip or joke and an unforgiving smile.
