TOLSMA, EVELYN
1935-2010
EVELYN TOLSMA, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully with her family at her side, after a short battle with cancer, on Thursday, July 15th, 2010, at the age of 75 years.
She was predeceased by her parents, Albert and Maartje Vonkeman, brothers Abe, Henk, Wim and Andy.
Evelyn was a beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend to many. She is survived by her husband of 53 years, Mr. Louis Tolsma; one daughter Marlene (Jim) Balsdon and their children Amanda and James; one son Tom (Sandy) Tolsma of Lethbridge; one brother, John (Jo) Vonkeman; sisters-in-law Trudy (Wim – deceased) Vonkeman, Elly (Henk – deceased) Vonkeman and Gerda (Andy – deceased) Vonkeman; sisters, Alice (Pete) Schuld, Ina (Cor) Brouwer, Mary (Fred) Venhuis.
Her love of life and people touched the lives of all those who knew her. She was a compassionate, thoughtful and honourable woman who loved her family. Her life was a definition of true compassion and love. Mom’s greatest passion in life was to put others needs before her own.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 – Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Monday, July 19th, 2010 from 7 PM to 9 PM.
A private interment service will be held Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 with Reverend Wybren Oord officiating.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at the TRINITY REFORMED CHURCH, 1100 – 40th Ave. N., Lethbridge on Tuesday, July 20th, 2010 at 2 pm, with Reverend Hank Van Der Woerd officiating.

Kaiden Caige was called to be an angel with Great Grandpa Albert Twigg and Great Grandma Eliza Potts on Thursday, June 10, 2010.
Kaiden Caige was blessed to Lacey Twigg and Brad Provost and was an earth angel to Barbra and Ray Schow, maternal grandparents; Sandra Twigg (Chris) and Arnold (Bianca) Mountain Horse, paternal grandparents; Theresa Mills and Wesley Provost and sisters; Shataya Twigg, Lynae, Kyra and Tyanna Schow.
A Visitation will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Tuesday, June 15, 2010 from 9:00 AM to 11:00 AM followed by a Funeral Service.
Interment to follow at St. Mary’s cemetery, Blood Reserve.

TRIPP, G. BRUCE
November 19, 1936 – June 5, 2010
After a courageous battle with cancer, Bruce passed away at the St. Michael’s Health Centre.
He will be sadly missed by his wife of 44 years, Hilda, his daughter Kim (Ed) Horak and his two precious granddaughters Michaela and Kiara.
He was predeceased by his father and mother, Sam and Flossie Tripp, his two brothers Keith and John (Jack). Bruce is survived by his sister Betty Murphy of North Bay and Rob (Shelly) of Trenton, ON, sisters-in-law Veronica Tripp, Lucy Joyce, Joyce Joyce, Anne Ellis and brother-in-law Lionel Murphy as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
The family would like to thank Dr. Low, Dr. Smuts and the nurses at St. Michael’s Health Centre for the wonderful care provided to him and to our family for the past three weeks.
At Bruce’s request, there will be no funeral service.
A graveside service for friends and family will be held at ARCHMOUNT CEMETERY, Westside Drive West, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, July 3, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. followed by a Celebration of Bruce’s Life at the Coalhurst Community Centre, 50th Avenue, Coalhurst, AB.

TREHUB, ELIZABETH ESTHER
1919-2010
MRS. ELIZABETH “BETH” TREHUB of Lethbridge (formerly of Coutts) died peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, May 30, 2010 at the age of 90 years.
Beth was born in Moose Jaw, SK, on October 24, 1919. She married Bill Trehub in 1942 and they settled on a farm near Coutts. They had three children. Beth was predeceased by her husband in 1953.
She was very active in the community, belonging to various organizations. One of Beth’s favourites was Girl Guides of Canada, of which she became a lifetime member after forty years of service.
Beth is survived by her three children; Roger (Nancy) Trehub of Medicine Hat, AB, Marjory (Dell) Stockwell of Whitecourt, AB, and Vicki (John) Racz of Lethbridge, AB. She is also survived by eight grandchildren and ten great-grandchildren.
A Celebration of Beth’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, June 3, 2010 at 1:00 PM with Deacon Cliff Bogdan officiating.

THIELEN, ROBERT
1922-2010
ROBERT JOSEPH THIELEN passed away on Saturday, April 3, 2010, at the Chinook Regional Hospital after a brief illness.
Bob is survived by his wife of 65 years, Dot; his children: Barry (Gail) Thielen, Yvonne (Terry) Cowie, Lana (Tim) Clay, Denise (Dean) MacKenzie; his grandchildren: Brandon and Kendra Thielen, Jeff (Laureen), Greg (Asheley) and Jocelyn Cowie (Darcy Doyle), Avery Clay, Farrell (Ken) Boser and Lauren MacKenzie; his great-granchildren Haedyn (Jeff) Cowie and Liam (Greg) Cowie; his brothers Roy (Margaret), Raymond (Ann) and Gordon A. (Marietta) Thielen; his sister Gladys (Jim) Strilchuk; sister-in-law Mid (Howard) Bellew and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents George and Catherine Thielen, his sisters Caroline and Violet, and brothers Milton and Clifford.
RJ was born in Allerston, AB on May 22, 1922. He attended school in Allerston, Coutts and Milk River. He excelled at baseball in school and thereafter, passionately watching when he could no longer play.
On October 15, 1945 he married Dorothy “Dot” Jean Kuhl. Bob farmed, was a licensed mechanic, repaired his own machinery as well as many of the neighbours’. He Co-owned and operated the AG Grocery store in Milk River for a number of years.
All of his life he enjoyed woodworking and made beautiful pieces of furniture for family and friends
Bob enjoyed golfing and playing pool until his health prevented him. He loved visiting at home with family and friends.
Bob’s grandchildren and great-grandchildren were his pride and joy and the apples of his eye.
A Prayer Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street, Milk River, AB, on Wednesday, April 7, 2010 at 7:00 P.M.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 321 Main Street, Milk River, AB, on Thursday, April 8, 2010 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Joseph T. Kalathilparambil and Most Reverend John Schuster, Celebrants.

TAMAKI, LARRY NAOTO
1951-2010
LARRY NAOTO TAMAKI of Lethbridge passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, March 15, 2010 at the age of 59 years.
Larry is survived by his son Travis Tamaki of Las Vegas, daughter Jody (Mike) Pontillo of Las Vegas and their mother Linda Tamaki of Las Vegas. He is also survived by his brothers Koji Tamaki and Jack (Shirley) Tamaki of Lethbridge and sister Helen (Brian) Murkin of Lethbridge. Larry is also survived by nieces and nephews, Amy Tamaki, Jamey (Brandon) Beekman, Tim Tamaki, Stacey (Gerard) Sherry of Red Deer and Shaun Dennis.
Larry was predeceased by his son Larry Naoto Tamaki Jr. and his parents Tomi and Michigoro Tamaki.
Larry accomplished much in his life including raising his three children. He had a love of life and people and touched the lives of all who knew him. He had a unique sense of humour and a quick wit.
Larry was very active in the past with the Lethbridge Softball Association and helped to build the Peenaquin Park Softball Complex. He worked for the City of Las Vegas for numerous years until falling ill then returning to Lethbridge in 2008. He loved golfing and spending time with his son’s dog Tori.
Larry’s quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humour will be carried forward by those who loved him.
A Graveside Service will be held at MOUNTAIN VIEW CEMETERY, Scenic Drive and 11th Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, March 18, 2010 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Yasuo Izumi officiating.

ANTONETTE “NETTIE” DORTHEA THOMSEN passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, February 16th, 2010 at the age of 89 years.
Nettie was predeceased by her husband Morten of Lethbridge; mother, Dorthea and father Anton, 4 sisters and 1 brother, all of Denmark.
She is survived by three sons, Tom (Marion) of Whitehorse, Yukon, Erik (Charlene) of Lethbridge and Bent (Valerie) of High River; 7 grandchildren, Michael, Randall, Daniel (Tammy), Jason Arnold, Kimberley (Rob) Laidlaw, Santina Miller and Shantel; 6 great-grandchildren; 2 sisters in Denmark and 1 brother in Canada.
Nettie loved to travel and visit family in Denmark and Canada. She was a compassionate, thoughtful and honourable woman who loved her family. She loved to spend time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren as well as her close friends, which included going for a weekly lunch with her neighbors. In her spare time she would be knitting and crocheting and would make many gifts for her family and friends.
A Service of Remembrance will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 – Mayor Magrath Drive S., Lethbridge on Tuesday, February 23rd , 2010 at 10:30 am. with Reverend Lois Punton officiating.
Following the service she will be laid to rest with her husband in the Mountain View Cemetery.

TSCHETTER, JACOB

MR. JACOB “BOYA” TSCHETTER, beloved brother and uncle, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Tuesday, February 16, 2010 at the age of 73 years.
He is survived by sisters Barbara, Anne, Sarah, Mary and Margaret and numerous nieces and nephews. He was predeceased by his parents, brothers Fred and Henry and sisters Rebecca, Rachel, Susie and Katie.
Jake was born at Standoff Colony, AB, on October 13, 1936. He left at a young age to work as a sheep cowboy in Saskatchewan and later settled near Wilson Siding while working at the Lethbridge Meat Packers.
He loved to travel, visiting colonies, family and friends, telling stories, giving backrubs and talking about the Lord. He will be greatly missed. We love you, Uncle Jake.

GEORGE TOMSIC
1934-2009
Husband, Brother, Father, Grandfather, Uncle, Mechanic, Bricklayer, Greens Keeper, Volunteer, Good Neighbour and Friend to all he met.
George, beloved husband and best friend to Gail, of Coaldale, passed away unexpectedly at home on Sunday, December 13, 2009 at the age of 75 years.
He was the loving father of Debby (Joey) Savidant, and grandfather to Ryan and Amanda Shigehiro. He also leaves to mourn his loss his sister Annie Triska, brothers-in-law Ron, Ken, Allan, Terry, Keith Hunt and Shig Kitagawa, and numerous nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his father George Tomsic, mother Agnes, sisters Jennie and Agnes, and parents-in-law Art and Lydia Hunt.
George was born July 12, 1934 in Coaldale and was raised on the family farm in Readymade. George met Gail, the love of his life, in 1960. They were married January 8, 1963, and from that point on they were inseparable. The birth of his daughter Debby in November 1963 was the highlight of his life.
George and Gail enjoyed stockcar races, dances with their close friends, Hurricanes hockey, golfing, going to the Coaldale Senior Centre, playing pool, volunteering and spending time with their grandchildren. He was always supportive and proud of his grandchildren with everything they were involved with.
He provided well for his family with various occupations, most notably as a masonry contractor (starting his own business), welding along with his brother-in-law Ken and father-in-law Art at Hunt Welding, and Greens Keeper of Indian Hill Golf Course until his retirement in 2000.
George and Gail enjoyed many vacations together, as they both loved to travel.
His neighbours could always count on him for advice and help whenever needed.
George was genuinely open, honest, friendly and helpful. He will be greatly missed by all who knew him.
A Celebration of Life will be held at COALDALE UNITED CHURCH, 2022 – 18 Street, Coaldale, AB. on Saturday, December 19, 2009 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Bob Wallace officiating.

MR. JAMES TURNER
1922-2009
MR. JAMES TURNER beloved husband of the late Mrs. Helen Miron Turner passed away in Lethbridge on Sunday, November 29, 2009 at the age of 87 years.
Jim was born in Calgary in 1922 and moved to the Lethbridge area at the age of ten. In 1940 he joined the Canadian Armed Forces. He served in the Infantry, with the Essex Scottish for five years.
After the war he returned to Lethbridge, where he met and married Helen Miron in 1949. Jim worked in the construction industry, as a carpenter, for many years. After retirement he continued to pursue his lifelong interests in wood working, nature and music. He was predeceased by his beloved wife Helen and his brother-in-law Jack (Brenda) Miron in 2003, his sister Pauline (Frank) Tito in 1991, and his brother-in-law Frank in 1982.
He is survived by his children Bob (Debbie), Jim and Jean, his sister-in-law Brenda and his niece and nephew Vanessa and Brett.
Jim will be missed very much.
A viewing will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB., on Sunday, December 8, 2009, from 3:00 to 4:00 P.M.
