Florence Red Crow -Ii nisskim’ maakii (Holy Buffalo Rock Woman) June 3, 1930- May 31, 2013
Surrounded by her beloved family at the Cardston Municipal Hospital, Ii nisskim’ maakii, started her spiritual journey in the early morning when the Sun was rising on May 31, 2013 after a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease. She leaves to mourn her children: Barbara, Noreen, Ernestine (Cal), Marie, Patsy and Frank (Annette), adopted children: Charlotte White Quills and Cally Eagle Tailfeathers. Sisters: Pauline Tallow, Bernadette Young Pine, Dolores Gadbois, and Agnes and Stella First Charger. Brothers: Leonard (Bernice) Old Shoes, Sidney Young Pine, Vincent and Roderick (Audrey) White Quills, adopted brother: Francis (Judy) First Charger. Florence also leaves to mourn 16 grandchildren and 32 great grandchildren. Extended families: White Quills, Calling Last, Long Time Squirrel, Old Shoes, Wells, Many Grey Horses, Crazy Bulls, Bad Mans, Black Plumes, Russell’s, Bruised Heads and Spotted Bulls, Many Chiefs, and First Chargers.
Ii nisskim’ maakii was born in 1930 at the old Kainai Hospital to Paul (Aapikayis) and Fanny (Ik kinai tsi yiohsi) White Quills. She received her name from Old Man Calling Last (Saakowa’ paoh komii). At the age of two, she was adopted by Peter Big Nose (Omah ksk sii) and Elizabeth Flying About (Iit soy ayo’ka). Her maternal grandfather was Willie Scraping White ( Mako yappi’) and she was a member of the Many Children Clan ( Aakai pokaikis). Florence was a caregiver for father Peter, grandfather Willie and uncle Mike Yellow Bull. The trio of old men had a wealth of experience and knowledge of the Blackfoot Way of Life and exposed their knowledge to her older children; she was bestowed the honor of caring for the Blood Reserve’s most sacred pipe the Mii som akoyi manii (Long Time Medicine Pipe) for four years. Florence was a strong believer in both the Catholic Church and her native religion and traditions. She left the Blood Reserve in 1947 for several years for medical reasons, upon returning she married Clarence Red Crow at the age of 24. Since then she started caring and providing for her close knit family.
Florence was predeceased by her parents Paul and Fanny White Quills, Adopted Parents Peter Big Nose and Elizabeth Flying About, grandfather Willie Scraping White, uncle Mike Yellow Bull, Jim Takes the Gun Strong and Aunt Louise Panther Bone. Brothers: Morris, Arthur, Dennis, Leo and Eugene Whitequills, sisters: Angeline Standing Alone, Jane & Julia Whitequills, Irene Weasle Head and Kathleen Shade. Beloved son Calvin Red Crow, daughter Flora Red Crow, adopted daughter Wendy Whitequills(Manybears) grandchildren: Dave Red Crow, Aldwin Jr. Whitequills, and great grand-daughter Neaveh Red Crow.
The family would like to thank Dr. Taylor, Lee Crest, CMH nursing staff, Janet, Darlene D. from Lee Crest Nursing Home and Clarence Red Crow for his comforting presence. We wish to apologize for excluding anybody that needs to be mentioned.
A family service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, June 7, 2013 at 5:00 P.M.
A wake will be held at SENATOR GLADSTONE HALL, Blood Reserve, AB on Friday, June 7, 2013 from 6:00 to 11:00 P.M. and the wake will continue all night at Florence’s house.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at ST. MARY’S IMMACULATE CONCEPTION PARISH, Blood Reserve, AB on Saturday, June 8, 2013 at 11:00 A.M. with Father Pawell Andrasz, Celebrant.
Interment to follow in the St. Mary’s Cemetery.

JESSIE SARA MARGARET RIDGWAY
1928 - 2013
It is with heavy hearts that we, her family, announce the passing of our mother, JESSIE SARA MARGARET RIDGWAY on Tuesday, March 12, 2013, at the age of 84 years at the St. Michael’s Palliative Centre, Lethbridge, with loving family at her side.
Mom was someone we could all aspire to be like, a gentle spirit, unconditional in her love for family and friends and devout in her belief in Jehovah. There was always room for one more at her table and in her heart. Our memories of her will be filled with smiles and laughter. There is no way for us to express how much she will be missed by all who knew her.
Mom was predeceased by her husband Maurice “Moe” Peter Ridgway , who passed away in April of 1994. They would have been married 62 years this June. Also predeceasing Mom are her parents, John and Margaret Mitchell, 2 brothers, Reece and Donald and 1 sister, Gladys. She is survived by her 2 sons, Craig (Karen) and Spencer (Brigitte); her 4 grandchildren, Kyle (Margaret), Travis (Dianna), Jared (Jessica) and Robyn. Mom was proud of her 6
great-grandchildren, Zoe, Teagan, Zariah, Simara, Brady and Kaelan. She is also survived by her brothers Jack and Bud and by her sisters Mae and Shirley.
We are honouring Mom at a memorial service which is being held on March 23, 2013 at 1:00 p.m. at the Kingdom Hall, 1510 Stafford Drive North with a reception to follow at the LSCO (Lethbridge Senior Centre Organization) , front dining room, 500 – 11 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 4G7. If you wish, please bring along a written memory of Jessie which will be placed in a memory album for the family. Thank you.

Our Almighty God in His wisdom took home Henry Rop, His faithful servant, beloved husband of Hinke Rop on March 7, 2013.
“Be still and know that I am God.” Henry Rop, beloved husband of Hinke Rop, went home to his Father in heaven the early morning of Thursday, March 7, 2013. Father of John and Arlene Rop (Erica, Alison and Tyler) Jack and Deb Rop (Colton,Caitlin,and Brittany) Renita and Wolter Korf (Rebecca and Emily) Jeanette and Arron Madson (Ian, Amanda and Lance) Carol and Dale Kenney (Joshua and Beck).
Henry was born in Uithuizermeden, The Netherlands on January 18, 1932 and immigrated to Lethbridge, AB in 1951. He married Hinke Halma on December 18, 1959. Henry is also survived by family in The Netherlands and the Halma family.
The family extends heartfelt appreciation to medical staff, Homecare, E.M.S. and Bridges.

WALTER RUFF
1928 - 2012
WALTER JACOB RUFF
A very special husband, father, grandfather and friend Walter Jacob Ruff, passed away peacefully at Edith Cavell Nursing Home on August 30, 2012 after a lengthy illness.
He is predeceased by his wife Florence, two brothers, Alfred and Edwin Ruff, three sisters, Martha Fredricks, Helen Schmidt and Leonora Myers, infant son Joseph and granddaughter
Kaitlan. He is the loving father of son Blair (Laurie) Ruff of Lethbridge; and daughters Denise Kaupp, Leslie (Joe) Gatner, Carroll Moore of Lethbridge; and Lenore (Morgan) Rockenbach of Wrentham.
He leaves to mourn his five children, nine grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. He is survived by his brother Sol Ruff of Medicine Hat, and sister Frieda Heck of Kindersley, Saskatchewan and numerous nieces and nephews.
Wally was born on November 11, 1928 and grew up on a farm in Burstall, Saskatchewan.
Wally graduated from U. of Calgary with a Bachelor of Education, and from Eugene, Oregon with a Masters of Education. He was a long standing member of the Knights of Columbus.
Wally enjoyed a long career as an administrator and educator until he retired in 1982. He taught school in Brooks, Ezikom, and completed his teaching career in Lethbridge. He taught at St. Francis Boys School (where he loved coaching basketball & football), Assumption School as vice-principal and lastly at St. Basil’s School as principal.
Wally became principal of St. Basil’s school in 1970, he spoke fondly of his time there, and was instrumental in the establishment of a math lab and of the intramural program.
He enjoyed his trips to Hawaii to visit his daughter, Carroll, with his wife Florence. The vacations and outings with the motor home and boat were highlights for his family.
During his retirement he enjoyed curling, golfing, playing bridge, helping his five children, and one of his favourite activities with his grandchildren was playing cribbage.

VERA RUTKOWSKI, (May 2 1931 - Feb 22 2013) passed away peacefully in Raymond. Vera's strength, faith in God, and love of family will live on in her son Tadeush (Ted), grandson Dylan (Angie) and great-granddaughters Taylor and Hailey Rutkowski.
She is also survived by one brother Steve (Lydia) Danyluk.

WLADISLAW RACH
1932 - 2012
MR. WLADISLAW "WALTER" RACH of Coaldale, passed away on Saturday, December 15, 2012 at the age of 80 years.
He is the loving father of Albert Rach (Nancy Berry) of Coaldale, Frank (Julie) Rach of Lethbridge, grandfather of Jaime of Calgary, Dustin of Coaldale, and Tanna Rach of Lethbridge, and great-grandfather of Mikayla Kress of Taber. He is the brother of Stan (Margit) Rach of Coaldale, Adolf Rach of Lethbridge, an Christa (Rick) Lastuka of Lethbridge.
Walter was predeceased by his daughter Angela Rach, a brother Anton "Tony" Rach, and parents Ernst and Maria Rach.
Walter was born in 1932 in Poland. Wladislaw "Walter", second eldest of five children, met and married Krimhild in 1956, when they immigrated to Canada in 1957. Walter and his wife found work in the farming community, later working in construction and eventually began his own business in upholstery.
Walter and Krimhild raised three children and established themselves in Coaldale where they have been married for 56 years. He was a passionate about gardening, fishing with his brothers, going for walks with his dog Raegin, and spending time with his family. Walter was a loving, compassionate, and caring man who will be forever Loved, Remembered and Missed.
The family would like to extend a special thanks to Dr. Kingston and Dr. Janzen for the care they provided to Walter over the years, as well as the EMS staff of Coaldale.

ALEXANDRA “ALEXIES” REGIER (nee Zaychuk), beloved Wife of Garry Regier of 25 years passed away at the St. Michael’s Palliative Care Center, on Sunday, November 25, 2012 at the age of 47 years.
Alexies is the loving Mother of Tyrel and Blaine Regier, Daughter of Bill and Ila Zaychuk. She is survived by her Mother-in-law Lydia and Steve Danyluk of Cranbrook, B.C., Brothers Rocky (Judy) Zaychuk of Lethbridge, Tony (Deb) Zaychuk of Leduc, and Danneil Zaychuk of Lakeland, Florida. She is also survived by Brother-in-law Russell Regier of Saskatchewan, Uncles Nick (Barb) Zaychuk of Coalhurst, Steve (Marilyn) Zaychuk of Calgary, Aunt Mary (Wally) Mysyk of Manitoba, Aunt Helen Thiessen, as well as many other numerous family members.
She was predeceased by her Father-in-law Ben Regier, 3 Uncles; Jack, George and Mike and Aunt Nina.
