ROMCZUK, LYDIA
1913 - 2012
LYDIA ROMCZUK, of Lethbridge, predeceased by her husband Anton Romczuk and daughter Gertrude Sweeney, passed away peacefully at the Lethbridge Regional Hospital on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at the age of 98 years, with her family by her side.
Lydia is the last of eight siblings. She is survived by daughter Anna Hipsh of Toronto, ON, Luba (Edmund) Ruff of Lethbridge, Elsie (Larry) Oligmueller of Fort Collins, Colorado, and Peter Romczuk of Lethbridge. She is also survived by 12 grandchildren, 17 great-grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Lydia was born February 10, 1913 in Borokuti, Ukraine. She came to Canada in 1954 with her family to Lethbridge. Lydia took most pride in her gardening till it became too much for her as she grew tired with age. Aside from gardening Lydia enjoyed cooking, knitting and crocheting.
The visits from her grandchildren and great-grandchildren were always welcomed and enjoyed.

Funeral Services will be held at CHRIST TRINITY LUTHERAN CHURCH, 416-12th Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, February 10, 2012 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Jason Anderson, officiating.
Interment to follow in the Mountain View Cemetery.

RICE, EDWARD ELLIOTT
1934 - 2011
Mr. EDWARD “ED” RICE, Q.C., beloved husband of Mrs. Angie Rice, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, December 12, 2011 at the age of 77 years.
Besides his loving wife Angie, he is survived by his family, Jon (Laura) Rice from Round Rock, Texas, Barb (Jon) Doan of Lethbridge, five grandchildren Braeden, Lexi and Kai Rice, Titus and Mallory Doan.
He is also survived by two sisters, Nancy O’Connor of California and Mary (Al) Gray of Sidney B.C. Ed is survived by nieces and nephews, Bob (Mieke) Rice, Nancy (Jim) Noiles, George Rice, J.P. O’Connor, Catherine (Rick) Reisman, Mike (Linda) O’Connor, Shawn (Mike) O’Connor, Tim (Karen) O’Connor, Patty O’Connor (Larry Combie), Scott Gray, Cathy (Kelly) Kennedy, Anne (Bruce) Oxley as well as numerous great and great great nieces and nephews. Ed is also survived by one brother-in-law, Gordon (Lydia) Schorss of Westbank B.C.
Ed is predeceased by parents Catherine and George Rice, two brothers, Donald and in infancy, George, sister-in-law Ruth Rice, brother-in-law John O’Connor, and parents-in-law Erika and Hans Schorss. Edward Elliott Rice was born in Lethbridge on June 22, 1934. He was the son of George and Catherine Rice and spent a happy childhood with his brother and sisters in the Annandale House. Edward was educated in Lethbridge and graduated from St. Joe's High School prior to obtaining a law degree from the University of Alberta in 1961. Edward articled for his father George Rice and was admitted to the Alberta Law Society in 1962. In 1984, Ed was appointed to the Queen's Council and practiced law for a total of 45 years prior to retiring in 2006. Edward was prominant member of the local community including dedicated service as a city Alderman, member of the Lethbridge Elks, Kinsmen and K-40 Clubs, Associated Canadian Travellers, University of Lethbridge Board of Governors and the Lethbridge Police Commission.
Edward loved the western landscapes of Alberta, British Columbia and Montana and found enjoyment driving from Lethbridge to many destinations. Between his late teens and mid-twenties, Ed worked summers as a Transportation Agent for the Glacier Park Transport Company coordinating the historic Red Bus canvas-topped touring coaches providing transportation for visitors within Glacier National Park. This was followed by frequent family trips to Waterton and Whitefish. He took particular delight in planning and coordinating annual fishing trips to Prince Rupert and Flathead Lake.
Edward was a devoted husband, father, Opa and friend that will be dearly missed by those that had the honour of knowing him.
A Celebration of Ed’s Life will be held at the LETHBRIDGE LODGE HOTEL, 320 Scenic Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Friday, December 16, 2011 at 1:00 P.M.

ROBERTS, ALICE BERNICE
1918 - 2011
Aunty Alice passed away at the age of 93 with dignity and serenity in the pre-dawn hours of Sunday, November 27th, 2011 at the Blue Sky Lodge in Lethbridge. She was born in Diamond City on September 24, 1918 to Rennie and Grace Housenga and grew up on the farm in the Iron Springs area.
Aunty Alice is survived by a special daughter-like friend, Frani (Ken) Yoshida of Lethbridge and a step-daughter, Pam (Gary) Olds of Chase, B.C. Other survivors include nieces Norma Chollack, Linda (Roland) Duquette, Nona Housenga and Val (Doug) Bareham-Wright and nephews Terry (Gerry) Kennon and Curtis Kennon. She was predeceased by her parents, husbands Fred Lovegrove and Vern Roberts, sisters Gertrude Hardie and Margaret Kennon, and brother Menno Housenga.
Playing crib, knitting, crocheting and reading were the passions in Aunty Alice’s life. Being sight impaired recently made these activities very challenging for her, but she persevered with her strong sense of independence and steadfast character.
She was very proud of her service in the Royal Canadian Air Force during World War II and was honoured when asked to be a flag bearer at the Blue Sky Lodge’s Remembrance Day ceremony this month.
The family is eternally grateful to the unconditional love and friendship Frani extended to Aunty Alice over the years. Frani was the ray of sunshine for Alice in her final darkened days.
The Funeral Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge on Friday, December 2, 2011, at 1:00 PM, with Reverend Erin Phillips officiating. A reception will follow.
After the reception, interment will be held at Mountain View Cemetery.
If friends so desire, memorial tributes in Alice’s name may be made directly to Prairie Tractor and Engine Museum, Box 768, Picture Butte AB T0K 1V0, to be used in the maintenance of the Eaton/Housenga house.

BEN RAMAGE, beloved husband of the late Dell Ramage, of Lethbridge, passed away at Chinook Regional Hospital, on Saturday, October 29, 2011 at the age of 87 years.
Survived by his four children; John (Angie), Theresa (Greg), Janet (Steve) and Ron (Jackie). Also three grandchildren Kyle, Zack and Kelsey and one great-grandchild (Anissa). Also many nieces, nephews and friends.
Predeceased by his wife (Dell), parents, brother and three sisters.

REMPLE, JEANNETTE IRENE
1953 - 2011
JEANNETTE IRENE REMPLE, of Lethbridge, passed away on October 15, 2011 at the St. Michael’s Health Centre, at the age of 70 years.
She is the loving and devoted mother of Brian James (Carolyn) Teichroeb, Brenda Diane Tkachuk and Sandra Lynn (Darren) Hutchison. She is also survived by five grandchildren Mitchel Lee Teichroeb, Meghan Elisabeth Tkachuk, Sydney Rebekah Tkachuk, Kendra Jeannelle Hutchison and Ethan Joel Hutchison.
Jeannette was predeceased by her daddy Abram Remple and mom Linda Remple (Epp) (nee Penner) and dad Isaac Epp. Born in Swift Current, Saskatchewan, Jeannette spent some of the best years of her life growing up at the Two Rivers Bible Institute near Nipiwan from the ages of 14 to 18 years being raised by her Mom, Linda and Dad, Isaac Epp. In her adult years, after her Mom moved to Lethbridge, they became “best friends”.
In 1962, she moved from Swift Current to Lethbridge and started a family. She lovingly dedicated her life to her children and grandchildren.
In the service of others, she volunteered with organizations such as the St. Michael’s Health Centre, Good Samaritans, Diabetes Association, and the MS Society which were very dear to her heart. She also spent 10 years singing and ministering with “Light House” and “King’s Echo” touching many and serving the Lord.
Friendships were very important to her. Working at Woodward’s and Safeway for over 18 years, she developed and kept strong ties with the “Woodward’s Gals”. She was the founder and leader of a Ladies Support and Friendship Group. From that group, many dear friendships were created and lead to her “Thursday nights with the coffee girls”, which she always looked forward to.
Some of her favorite things were family photos, bubble baths, family get-together’s, coffee with friends, her family ring, her willow collection, her snowman collection, spending time with seniors, cooking and baking for her family. Our sweet, precious and beautiful Mom and Grandma, we will miss you.
A Funeral Service will be held at CENTRAL CHURCH OF CHRIST, 716-23 Street North, Lethbridge, on Friday, October 21, 2011 at 3:00 p.m. with Pastor Wes Midgett, officiating.
Cremation to follow the service.

ANDREW OWEN ROBERTS, of Turin, passed away at home on Tuesday, June 14, 2011 at the age of 53 years.
He is the loving father of Wendy (Jim) Milligan of Iron Springs, Leanne (Scott) Park of Edmonton, Matthew Roberts of Edmonton, and David (Mandy) Roberts of Edmonton. As well as six grandchildren Zachary and Cole Milligan, Dorian and Lucas Park, Summer and Maksim Roberts. Andrew is also survived by five brothers and sisters Mike (Michele) Roberts, Janet Roberts (Hugh), Stephen Roberts (Harvey), Fiona Roberts and Julie Roberts (Luigi) .
He was predeceased by his parents David and Sheila and one brother Cameron.

WILLIAM ROBULAK, beloved husband of late Kathleen, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the age of 94 years.
William is survived by three children; Sharon (Arthur) Dawson, of Lethbridge, and their children, Lori (Doug) Konard and Erin of Vancouver, and Kathy Dawson of Calgary; Linda (Tom) Hales of Lethbridge and their child, Shelley Payne and her children Ryan (Sammy) and Lindsay (Matthew); Robert Robulak of Lethbridge and his children Taylor Lee (Tom Morrow), Megan and Triston.
He is also survived by sister-laws; Greta Peters and their children and Eunice Robulak and their children.
He is predeceased by his wife Kathleen, parents Katie and Harry Robulak, sister Emily (Steve) Vaselenak, brother John Robulak and granddaughter Patricia.
William worked for Canadian Pacific Rail for 30 years, retiring in 1976. William loved life to the fullest, he spent summer camping with family in Waterton and travelled the world extensively. He truly loved his family and never missed a chance to play a hand of cards be it canasta, bridge or crib. His favorite hobbies were cross country skiing, walking and golfing.
As per William’s request there will be no funeral service held.

RACH, ANTON "TONY"
1934 - 2011
ANTON “TONY” RACH, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the St. Michael’s Health Centre on Thursday, February 17, 2011 at the age of 76 years.
Tony was predeceased by his parents, Ernst and Maria Rach. He is survived by three brothers, Stan (Margit). Walter (Krimhilda) and Adolf; one sister, Christa (Rick) Lastuka; numerous nieces and nephews.
Tony came to Canada with his parents on June 18, 1956 and then settled in Coaldale where he was employed with Bonn Bros. & Jarvie, driving a cement truck. Upon semi-retirement he moved to Lethbridge and enjoyed several years tending the greens at Henderson Lake Golf Course. In December 2006, Tony starred down death and survived an aneurism and heart attack. He then spent 4 years at St. Michael’s Care Centre from January 2007 until his passing. He touched us all and our time with him was marvelous. Tony was a compassionate, thoughtful and honourable man who loved his family. His quiet courage, strength of spirit, creativity and sense of humor will be carried forward by those who knew and loved him. There were never enough accolades that he had for the staff at St. Michael’s. He was truly happy and enjoyed his life there until the end.
A special heartfelt thanks to Sisters Caroline, Ivy and Joan as well as all the wonderful nurses, staff and caregivers at St. Michael’s.

REGNER, ALBERT
1930 - 2011
MR. ALBERT REGNER, was taken to be with the Lord at Good Samaritan Park Meadows, Cottage 5 on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the age of 80 years.
Albert was predeceased by his wife Wilma in 2007. He is survived by his children; Annemarie (Victor) Wetch, Linda Weremczuk (Larry Nelson) and their children Melinda and Donny; Ron Regner, and Christine (Barry) Bergstrom and their children Davyn, Brysen and Kyle. He is also survived by his brothers Arnold Regner and family from Bashaw, and Bruno and one sister Elsie from Germany and families.
Albert was a carpenter by trade but his passion was farming, which he started in the Ferintosh area in the early 1960’s. In 1976 they sold the farm, moved to Camrose to go back into the carpentry business.
In 1990 his wife Wilma became ill with Alzheimer’s disease and he dedicated the next 15 years of his life to her. Shortly thereafter he became ill with Dementia.
Albert was kind, loving, and compassionate man. He was always there to lend a hand to anyone in need, especially his children. He will be sadly missed and lovingly remembered.
