Edie joined our LaFoy/Lafoy family ancestry group several years ago and was very excited to learn about the 125 plus LaFoy cousins she had and her family history and heritage. She was also able to learn more about her father and the circumstances of his death in Holland during the Second World War with the South Albertas (Tank Regiment). There he liberated the town of Bergen-Op-Zoom only to be KIA in action the next day when she was very young. Tip Orlando LaFoy is buried in the homeland of Edie’s Great Grandfather Jacob Marinus LaFoy (Lavooij) who immigrated to New York in the 1840’s with his father Dejinis Lavooij (Dennis LaFoy) and sisters. Edie was often commenting and always happy to learn something new about her LaFoy family. Sad to see her go …
