Marilyn Elizabeth Brown (nee Baxter), passed away peacefully with loved ones at her side, at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton on January 6th, 2022, at the age of 85 years. Marilyn was born in Nova Scotia, one of seven children of the late Ella Mae Porter and Arthur Roy Baxter.

Marilyn is survived by her twin sons, Bruce and Steven Kirk, stepsons Robert (Marion) and Glenn, grandchildren Peter (Aimee), Dale, Trevor (Kate), Merissa, Dustin, Sydney, Jennifer, Robbie, Nikita, and Ryan, as well as great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews.

She is predeceased by first husband, Peter Kirk, her two sons, Richard (Sharon) and Jeffrey (Gina) Kirk, her siblings, Ronald, Audrey, Lester, Fred, Jeanne and Barry, and her beloved husband Gordon Brown who passed away on February 7, 2021.

Marilyn, daughter of a military family, moved out west to Edmonton, AB, married Peter Kirk and became the mother of four boys, before Peter passed away in 1980. Later on, she moved to Lethbridge, AB after meeting Gordon, a veteran of the Korean war. Marilyn was known for being a hard-working professional, always smartly dressed, and became the CEO of the Lethbridge Real Estate Board. Marilyn and Gordon shared their lives and enjoyed travelling together. In the early years of courtship, Gordon would fly them places on his own plane. Afterward, Gordon would drive them across Alberta and British Columbia in their motorhome, and they would spend winters in Arizona. Together they built a life together on a golf course in Lethbridge. They were active in the community, cared for each other and their pets, and welcomed visits from family and grandchildren.

Marilyn and Gordon were married on February 7, 1976, and Gordon left her side on their 45th wedding anniversary to prepare their place in heaven. Within a year, Marilyn has joined Gordon one last time to rest.

The family would like to give heartfelt thanks to the staff at the Churchill by Revera and the Royal Alexandra Hospital for the wonderful care they provided during a difficult time over the last year.

Marilyn has been cremated, and her funeral service was postponed until the spring at the request of family to allow for a gathering after the easing of restrictions. The service will take place at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 - 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, April 23, 2022 at 11:00 am.
