JOHN LORNE ILLINGWORTH, beloved husband of Shirley Illingworth, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully and surrounded by family at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Sunday, March 17, 2019 at the age of 81 years.

Besides John's beloved wife for the last 60 years, he is lovingly survived by his four sons, Blaine (Mark Randall) Illingworth, Dale (Lorna) Illingworth, Gary (Sue) Illingworth and Colin (Cherie Birch) Illingworth, as well as his grandchildren, Jason (Darcie), Chris, Keith, Spencer, Travis and one great-granddaughter, Ruby. John is also survived by his sister, Carol (Bill) Corbett.

John was predeceased by his parents, Albert and Dorothy Illingworth.

John was born in Tugaske, SK and raised in Trail, BC. He moved to Nelson, BC in 1958 when he married the love of his life- Shirley. Shortly thereafter, they were blessed with three sons, Blaine, Dale and Gary. In 1965 they left Nelson and moved to Maple Creek, SK where they were blessed with the birth of their fourth son, Colin. In 1970 they moved to Lethbridge, AB and where John resided until his passing.

John thoroughly enjoyed truck driving and made a 50-year career out of it. Truck driving allowed John to see the better part of North America, for which he was eternally grateful.

John and Shirley travelled a great deal together, going on several cruises and many trips to Las Vegas. They also enjoyed spending time with their family, hosting barbeques and taking their boys camping.    

In his later years, John enjoyed watching curling for hours on end.

John kept an incredibly witty and bright sense of humour until the day he passed. He was a hardworking man and an amazing husband, father and friend who will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

The family would like to thank all of the doctors and nurses at St. Therese Villa for the amazing care that John received while he was with you, as well as the nurses on 3B at the Chinook Regional Hospital.

At John's request, no formal Funeral Service will be held. Instead a casual come-and-go Memorial Reception will take place at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2800 Mayor Magrath, Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta, on Saturday, March 23, 2019 from 1:00 P.M. - 3:00 P.M.
