JOZSEF "JOE" LASZLO VACZY, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Gizella Vaczy, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital with family at his side, on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the age of 90 years.

JOZSEF "JOE" LASZLO VACZY, of Lethbridge, beloved husband of Gizella Vaczy, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital with family at his side, on Thursday, March 24, 2022, at the age of 90 years.

Besides his loving wife, Joe is survived by his daughters: Susanne (Dave) Sherring of Lethbridge, Liz (Max) Golish of Lethbridge and Debbie McPherson (Trevor Ennis) of Regina; grandchildren Kim (Mitch) Goetz of Regina, Jeremy Sherring (Haily Heeb) of Calgary, Tamara Sherring of Calgary, Richelle Golish (Kyle Sawers) of Lethbridge and Victoria "Tori" Oster (Brandon Walters) of Langham, SK: and great-granddaughter Briella. He is also survived by his brother Istvan "Pityu" Vaczy of Hungary.

He was predeceased by his mother, father and five siblings.

Joe was born in Tiszaf?red, Hungary on May 14, 1931, the second child and oldest brother in a family of six children. As a young man, he was a soldier in the Hungarian army and trained in his profession as a barber. He came to Canada in 1956 during the Hungarian Revolution to build a better life for his family. He barbered for many years in a small shop in the York Hotel, before buying a shop on 13th Street North, naming it "Uncle Joe's Barbershop", the name by which so many referred to him. Joe was also a talented bartender, working many functions throughout the 70s and 80s leading him to teach an evening class in mixology at the Lethbridge College in the 70s. He married his loving wife Gizella in 1992 and continued to barber in their home and working customer service jobs with various car dealerships in Lethbridge. Joe was a proud Fourth Degree member of the Knights of Columbus.

A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Tuesday, March 29, 2022 at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback celebrating.

Joe will be laid to rest privately in Mountain View Cemetery.
