Young Pine, Robert Ray

With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear sweet Robert Ray Young Pine (Brazeau) on Wednesday November 18, 2020.

With great sadness we announce the passing of our dear sweet Robert Ray Young Pine (Brazeau) on Wednesday November 18, 2020.

Robert was born on January 18, 1989 in Cardston, AB. Robert spent most of his life living on the Blood Reserve after moving home from Calgary in his later adolescent years. Robert attended Elementary School at Blessed Kateri Tekakwitha and Holy Trinity Elementary in Calgary Alberta. Robert attended Tatsikiisaapo'p Middle School on the Blood Reserve and later moved on to Kainai High School. Robert was a hard worker who worked alongside O&M staff Tom Healy and Karen Day Chief at Saipoyi Community School where he was well liked and welcomed by all staff. Robert also worked with Tatsikiisaapo'p Middle School, Aahsaopi Elementary School as well as Kainai High School. Robert volunteered his time to help those that needed him and also helped paint the mural at the Sik-Ooh-Kotok Friendship Society in Lethbridge, AB. Robert was a jack of all trades and worked as a drywaller, roofer and recently was learning to apprentice as a mechanic with Robin Hood. Robert recently completed an Iron Worker certification program alongside his nephew Dusty Old Shoes.

Robert was a Young Pine Cowboy at heart. Robert rode steers and bulls like a professional. When Robert was young, he came 2nd in bull riding at a rodeo in Standoff without ever practicing. Robert was highly intelligent/athletic and won numerous awards for both. Robert loved to work on beadwork and loved to listen to rap and old country music.

Robert was loved by many with his sweet demeanor and his humble nature. People always had something good to say about Robert and how much they liked him. When Robert was born he was the apple of his Grandma Kathleen's eye and she doted on him and Roberta (his twin sister). Our family would tease him about his Raymond Young Pine nose and he would always wear a proud smile when he heard this. Robert was like Grampa Raymond and read the bible diligently and had a strong belief in Creator but was too humble to show this side of himself.

Robert was predeceased by his Maternal Grandparents Raymond and Kathleen (Twigg) Young Pine, Paternal Grandparents Stanley and Mary Jane (Allary) Brazeau, Oldest Brother Jason Bradley Young Pine/Weasel Head, Uncles Raynard Young Pine, Richard Prairie Chicken (Godfather), Moses Weasel Head, Roy and Lorne Brazeau, Aunties Marlene Oka, Darlene Young Pine, Joyce Wells, Cousins Jeffrey, Kyle, Persephony Weasel Head, Derrick Young Pine and Chance Shade.

Robert is survived by his parents Catalina Young Pine and Robert G. Brazeau, Siblings Irene, Charles (Sharla), Kendall, and Roberta (Blake) Young Pine, Lyndon and Robin Brazeau, Paul Old Shoes, Leah Devine, Samms Family, Nephews Dustin (Kayla), Dalton, Jason Old Shoes, Latrell, Jaleel, Dante Young Pine, Lyric Weasel Head, Urijah, Mystery Young Pine, Joshua Heavy Head, Nieces Mariah Old Shoes, Anesia Young Pine, Kobe Butterfly (Byron) Brooklyn Yellow Horn and Brinley, Nevada, Katoyiss Pard-Old Shoes, and Sikapiokitopi Butterfly.

Due to the recent COVID-19 gathering restrictions, a Private Funeral Service was held and livestreamed on November 27, 2020 at 11:00 AM.

Robert was laid to rest in Young Pine Family Plot.
