Gwen loved music and singing and proved her love for others and God by serving in many ways from cooking at a Crippled Children’s camp where she met a young counsellor who pursued her all the way back to college and married her 54 years ago, to raising two children through the usual family growing pains, to studying and serving as an LPN with a specialty in Palliative care. Even in retirement, Gwen loved and served others through volunteering at MyCityCare. She loved to share stories of the people she met and was able to help. Her stories of immigrants from Ukraine and the many homeless people fed her great love for others. She showed such passion for the least, the lost, and those with little hope. Her smile became a permanent mark of love and respect.
Gwen loved to travel, especially to see her kids and grandkids or go for drives in the mountains with the love of her life, you know, that cute counsellor from camp! Gwen had a God given talent for all things crafty. Card marking, quilts, and pillowcases were her specialties and she used this gift to bless her grandkids with many Christmas and graduation gifts that they deeply treasure.
Gwen is greatly missed by those she loved so well: her husband Hugh, son Chan with his wife Lis and four children, daughter Joanne and her three children, her sister Luella, her bothers Leslie and Delbert, step-sisters Eleanor and Joanne, step-brothers Gerald and Gordon and Les and many others who were touched by her life and care. Gwen lived her life as a living testament to her faith, walking softly but leaving a deep imprint of grace on every heart she touched. While our world feels a little dimmer without her presence, we find a peace that passes understanding knowing she has heard those words she lived to hear: “Well done, good and faithful servant.”
A Celebration of Gwen’s life will be held at PARALLEL CHURCH, 1 mile East of Lethbridge on Hwy 3, on Saturday, March 28, 2026 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Ralph Molyneux officiating. The Celebration of life will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Gwen’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
