Stuckart, John

October 14, 2025

Date of Service: November 21, 2025

It is with deep sadness that we announce the passing of Lieutenant Colonel (Ret'd) John Stuckart, CD, on October 14, 2025, at the age of 70, in Kingston, Ontario. John passed away peacefully, following a swift but courageous battle with cancer, surrounded by his wife Wendy, son Mike, and daughter Kayla.

Born in Cardston, Alberta, John grew up in Lethbridge before his life and military career took him across Canada and around the world. He served his country with distinction in the Canadian Armed Forces for 35 years and was a proud Armoured Officer with the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians). His service included postings across Canada in Calgary, Gagetown, Suffield, Montreal, Edmonton, Ottawa and Kingston, as well as internationally in West Germany, Central America, the Balkans, Italy, Sri Lanka, and Afghanistan.

John was known for his quiet and calm demeanour, subtle wit, and good sense of humour. He loved to read, garden, cheer for the Patriots, and enjoy time on the golf course. Throughout his retirement years, he continued his love of adventure through travel and spending time with family and friends.

He was a devoted husband to Wendy for 44 years, loving dad to Mike (Laura) and Kayla, and cherished poppa to Jade, Ava, and Hazel. He was also a proud brother to Heather and Linda, and joins his brother Jim in peace.

We were so lucky in life because he was ours.

A Celebration of John’s life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 – 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, November 21, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.

Following the Celebration of life, John will be laid to rest in the Mountain View Cemetery Field of Honour.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Lord Strathcona’s Horse (Royal Canadians) Regimental Society and/or Homes for Heroes Foundation.
