Verne Rudhart

1968 – 2024

Send a Tribute

Verne was born on April 24, 1968, in Edmonton, AB. to Jurreen and Johann Rudhart. He was the youngest of three children. With that red hair, blue eyes, freckles and sparkle in his eyes, the Rudhart household was never the same! You knew by his smirk that he was up to something!

After the passing of his father, the family moved to Coutts, AB, where Verne resided for most of his life.

He married Pam Schroeder at their home in Coutts in 1998. During their marriage, they also lived in Sweetgrass and Shelby, Montana. They later divorced in 2012.

Verne then returned to Coutts where he worked at various jobs as a carpenter, landscaper, and handyman. He was particular about his craftmanship. He also worked on the pipeline for a time. He loved animals and would often take strays home. He also had a love for music and cooking, especially barbequing. He was a very good cook. Verne’s favorite place to be and his favorite thing to do was fishing at Gold Springs Park. He truly loved it there.

Verne leaves behind his special friend, Cheryl, as well as his mother, Jurreen Albert; sisters, Marina (Lawrence) Pittman and Karen (Kevin) Valgardson; nieces and nephews, Alyssa (Jason) and their children Madelyn and Libby, Kyla (Jamie) and their daughter Blake, Luke (Laura), Kara (Isaiah), Riki, Zachary (Ashleigh), Dawson and Kianna.

He was predeceased by his father Johann Rudhart and nephew Michael Pittman.

A Celebration of Verne’s Life will be held at Gold Springs Park at a later date.

My sincere condolences to Verne’s family. He joined our little classroom in elementary school (grade 4 ?). He was the envy of all of us in art class…. He was could draw like none of us had ever seen. I’ll always remember a grade 5 field trip to the Coutts slough/swamp across the highway. Verne and Robby G put together a make-shift raft and attempted to cross the slough… they made it half way before they sank. Mr. Levere nearly lost his mind. I think it was days before they could rid themselves of the smell. More “Verne memories” include playing Nicky Nine Doors and picking up cigarette butts from behind the bar and sneaking behind Kerv’s Korner to smoke them. Verne will always be remembered fondly. Rest easy, old friend.

I met Verne on a school trip when I was 15. We made so many wonderful memories together! Then we reconnected in 2015 we spent so many hours talking on the phone and looking back I truly wish I had gone to AB or had him come to NS. We knew everything about each other and he truly was a wonderful guy. I just hope he knew how loved he was! Rest Easy Verne. I hope you finally found peace. Sincere condolences to his mom and sisters! Until we meet again my friend know I think and thought of you daily!❤️

We are so sorry to hear of Vern's passing. We enjoyed visiting with Vern over the years. He had a wonderfun sense of humor and a great laugh. Some of our fondest memories of Vern were of tubing down the Milk River. I don't know if sun screen would have helped him but I don't think he ever bothered. We'll miss him. Our condolences to all of Vern's friends and family.
