DEREK BOWES passed away peacefully at St. Michael's Palliative Care Center at the age of 47 years after a valiant battle with cancer. His family was always by his side.

Derek was a loving father to Rylen and Owen Bowes; husband to his beloved wife Sandra McMurray; son to loving parents Nick and Gayle Bowes; brother to Tyler (Cheri) Bowes and Haley (Mike) Renner; uncle to Madison (John) Bowes, Mackenzie (Tynan) Bowes, Taryn (Max) Renner, Shae and Rayfe Renner; son-in-law to Arlene (John) ZoBell and James (Carol) McMurray; brother-in-law to Ryan McMurray; as well as part of a large loving extended family.

His wife Sandra, his family, and friends, both old and new, were incredibly important to him. But the highlight of Derek's life were his kids. They loved to camp and fish, and just hang out. He was so very proud of everything Rylen and Owen did. Derek worked hard and gave his all in everything he did.

His work at Taylor Harvesting, Haney Ranch, Chinook Stucco and especially Drain Master Hydro Vac / LA Power Systems Ltd. left him loved and respected by many friends and co-workers. In 2011, Derek started working as a hydrovac operator for Drain Master. He loved his job and all the friends and contacts he made through working there.

Although quiet and unassuming, Derek made a big impact on everyone he met. He travelled to Las Vegas and Cuba with Sandra, and often spoke of someday moving to Belize. Many of Derek's plans and dreams were cut short. With great faith and determination, he fought long and hard to survive, never complaining or wanting to worry anyone. He was selfless, loving and truly kind. In return, Derek is greatly loved by all and will be forever remembered.

To honour Derek's memory please never forget to say, "I Love You".

A Celebration of Derek's Life will be held at LA NEON / DRAINMASTER, 303 - 24 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, September 23, 2023, beginning at 12:00 Noon.
