Callaghan, Tim

TIM CALLAGHAN, beloved son of Tom Callaghan and Dar Callaghan (Don Johnston), passed away at home in Calgary, on Wednesday, September 8, 2021 at the age of 38 years.

TIM CALLAGHAN, cherished son of Tom Callaghan and Dar Callaghan (Don Johnston), passed away at home in Calgary on Wednesday, September 8, 2021.

Besides his loving parents, Tim leaves to mourn his brother Cody Callaghan; sister Myra Anderson; brother Josh (Cari) Johnston; sister Amy (Kevin) Taylor; nieces Rylan and Sawyer Johnston; nephews Jordyn Johnston, Dane and Kade Taylor; and very special grandma, Doreene Dannatt. Tim also leaves his uncle Milan (Leanne); uncle Johnny (Cathy); auntie Carol (Gerard); auntie Jann (Francis); his second mom, LouAnne Matlock; his extended family and friends; and very special fur friend Boston, who has now been adopted by Tim's niece Sawyer.

Tim was predeceased by his grandparents, Rudy and Mary Slacka, and Daniel and Lillian Callaghan; uncle Tim Callaghan and friend Richard "Matty" Matlock.

Tim was born in Lethbridge on February 16, 1983. He graduated from Winston Churchill High School in 2001. He continued his education in Calgary at Mount Royal University and received his Bachelor of Arts in Criminal Justice, Tim then continued on with the Calgary Police Academy. Upon graduation, he commenced his career with the Calgary Police Service, where he remained until his passing.

Tim started his hockey career at the age of 8 years old. He continued on thru the ranks of Lethbridge Minor Hockey. A sport he loved. As well as ice hockey, Tim loved inline hockey. In 2002, Tim captained Team Sutter to a three-peat at the National Championship in Lethbridge. Also that year, Tim captained Team Canada only to lose to Team USA, gaining a silver in West Florida Beach. Tim joined the Fort McMurray Oil Barons in 2001 where he played until he was traded in October of 2003 to the Crowsnest Pass Timberwolves. He went on to captain the Mount Royal Cougars for 4 years.

Tim loved his hockey, his music, traveling and living life to the fullest. His passion became his professional career with Calgary Police Service, Cally Collectible's and his life with Boston.

A celebration of Tim's life will be held at the COAST HOTEL AND CONFERENCE CENTRE, 526 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Wednesday, September 15, 2021, at 2:00 PM. Facemasks are mandatory and will be available upon request.

The Celebration of Life will be livestreamed and may be accessed via Tim's obituary on the Cornerstone website.
