Bortolussi, Anna Maria

March 6, 2024

Date of Service: March 14, 2024

It is with heavy hearts we announce the passing of our loving Mom, Nonna, and Bisnonna, ANNA MARIA BORTOLUSSI, on Wednesday, March 6, 2024 at the age of 85 years old.

Born in Portogruaro, Venice, Italy on March 26, 1938, Anna Maria was the oldest of four children of Giovanni and Lucia Nogarotto. She married the love of her life, Ferruccio Bortolussi, in 1961. Together they worked exceptionally hard, made enormous sacrifices, and built a life that centered around their family including their three children: Fabio, Dennis, and Antonia. To Anna Maria, family was her everything and the only thing in her world. She was the rock of the family and was a constant source of love and inspiration for all of us. She always carried herself with class, style, dignity, and pride, and instilled these and so many more values in her children and grandchildren.

For many years, long-term health issues were a struggle, but Anna Maria never lost hope and her deep faith never wavered. Her cherished grandchildren: Giuliana, Alessia, Christian and her first great-grandchild, Sienna, were the joys that brought her immense happiness. Family including Devin, Huxley, and so many more relatives and friends were also very important to her.

Anna Maria was predeceased by her beloved husband of 50 years, Ferruccio, in 2011 and this was a loss that she never recovered from. Although her passing brings us immeasurable sadness, we are comforted knowing that our mom and dad are now forever reunited in eternal peace.

The Bortolussi Family extends our appreciation to the countless health care professionals and support staff that have assisted and cared for Anna Maria. A special thank you to Chinook Regional Hospital, Fairmont Extendicare, Linda, Beata, and the staff at St. Michael’s Health Centre. There are countless more individuals who we will never forget for their care and compassion.

A private Funeral Mass was celebrated on Thursday, March 14, 2024. Following the Funeral Mass, Anna Maria and Ferruccio were laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, kindly consider donating in memory of Anna Maria to the Heart and Stroke Foundation (heartandstroke.ca) or the Alberta Cancer Foundation (albertacancer.ca).
