AGNES BARTEL, beloved wife of the late Richard Bartel, of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully into her eternal rest, at the Foothills Medical Centre, on Sunday, April 17, 2022 at the age of 89 years.
She is survived by her sons Rudolf of Portland Oregon, and Kenneth, and granddaughters Gracelynn & Amylie of Cochrane, Ab.
Agnes was born on a farm south of Grassy Lake, Ab on July 11, 1932, to David and Agnes Dyck. As a young girl she attended Southern Alberta Bible Camp and on the first night accepted the Lord as her Savior. Two years later she was baptized. She also attended the Coaldale Bible School and then to Calgary to get her nurses training.
On July 22, 1956 she married Richard Bartel. God blessed them and gave them much joy, but after only 23 years of marriage, the Lord saw fit to take her husband to glory. This was a very difficult situation to accept, but the Lord was her strength. The song "Because He lives I can face tomorrow" and the following verses had always encouraged her:
Proverbs 3:5-6 "Trust in the Lord with all your heart and do not lean on your own understanding. In all your paths acknowledge Him, and He will make your paths straight."
Doctors had predicted her death multiple times, but God had other purposes for her, so every day was considered a bonus. In 1996 she moved from Lethbridge to Coaldale to be closer to her mother and help her. In 2011 she moved to her son's home in Cochrane to help there.
Besides her loving children and grandchildren she is survived by one Sister: Martha (Frank) Janzen, Pincher Creek, one brother-in-law: Ed (Katie) Bartel, Lethbridge, four Sisters-in-law: Katie Bartel, Lethbridge, Mary Dyck, Linden, Lidia Dyck, Winnipeg, Anne Dyck Saskatoon, and many nieces, nephews and friends.

Aunt Agnes was such a special lady, she exuded kindness to everyone. I loved to visit with her and laugh together over "girl talk". May you feel God's presence at this difficult time.
Are thoughts and condolences to you Rudy and Ken on the passing of your mom. Your mother was an extraordinary gracious host, her Napoleon Tort was the best we've ever had, she will be remembered.
Our condolences to the family.... Your parents' friendship was very dear to my parents , David and Martha Pauls.
