Our beloved Mom, BETTY A KANANEN, passed away peacefully in her home on July 1st, 2024.
Mom lived her life with a great sense of humour, grace and dignity. She enjoyed nature, reading and travelling with family. She was especially fond of the ocean. We all have many happy memories of our adventures with her.
We were blessed to have had a special 100th Birthday Celebration/Family Reunion in Calgary on June 15th. Mom also spent a number of days at the cabin after the event, returning home on June 26th.
Mom is survived by her daughters; Patricia, Karen (Tom), Geneva, and Hazel. Her sons; David (Carole), Allan (Tricia). Her daughter in law; Paulette, 8 Grandchildren, and 10 Great Grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband Roy in 2006 and her son Robert in 2021.
Our love and appreciation to Hazel for her exceptional care of Mom. A special thank you to Jim and Linda McCann for their kindness and friendship over the years.
As per Mom’s wishes, there will be no service.
We know that Mom would appreciate it if anyone wishes, in lieu of flowers, please donate to the Royal Canadian Legion Branch 160, 205 Main Street, Barons, AB, T0L 0G0.

I am sorry to hear of the passing of your Mom and Robert. I’ve often thought of your family and especially Karen who was my best friend while we lived in Barons. I know Mom was very fond of Betty. My condolences for your loss.
Condolences on the loss of your Mom. I especially remember her from the curling rink in Barons and holding David. I am also sad to see Robert passed. He was a year younger than me, and Karen a year older. Lots of memories from school. Again, sorry for your losses
