The family of Marj Cannon [Corraini] is sad to announce the passing of our mom on Friday, November 13, 2015 at the age of 98. Her death left a big hole in the hearts of her 5 children: Lila [Cecil] Briggs of Moncton, NB; Kenneth [Lorna] Corraini of Victoria, BC; Colleen [Keith] Ferrel of Calgary; Fern Corraini of

LaPaz, Mexico; and Norma [Bill Watson] Corraini of Calgary. She is also lovingly remembered by 9 grandchildren and 9 great-grandchildren.

Mom was a prairie girl at heart. She was born in Carstairs and spent most of her years in the Bow Island area. In her long life she was well respected as a teacher, having started her career in a one room school during the Depression. She was an active, enthusiastic leader in her church and community.

Mom considered herself blessed with two long, happy marriages. The first was to our dad, Tullio Corraini, and 7 years after his death, the second to Bill Cannon.

Friends were an important part of her life and she had many. Every Tuesday for 37 years she met with her "Coffee Group" friends in Lethbridge. She had an inquisitive nature, an optimistic outlook and a genuine love of life. And one thing we know for sure - Mom loved her family and we loved her back. We were lucky to have had her for so many years. We will miss her terribly.

A Memorial Service will be held at the CALGARY CREMATORIUM AND FUNERAL SERVICES, 3219 - 4th Street N.W., within the valley of Queen's Park Cemetery, Calgary on Wednesday, November 18th, 2015 at 1:00 P.M. with Reverend Terry Shillington officiating.

A beautiful picture or a beautiful person. Memories of your mom start when she taught Lea at Kings Lake School and stayed with us on the farm for a few months. I was too young to go to school but she taught me to read. I still have the pretty pink sweater she knit for me. Later, our family visited with Marj and Tulio and visits extended with your family when we moved to Foremost. She was an amazing person, so full of joy and friendship. We send our deepest sympathy.
