It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of DONALD GAIL CARPENTER at the age of 79 years on June 7th, 2018 after a long battle with leukemia. Don left behind his wife Elinor of 54 years, daughter Stacey, son Scott, and three grand-daughters Ashton, Skye and Shyla.
Don joined the Lethbridge Fire Department on June 1st, 1964, advanced to Platoon Chief in 1997 and retired in February of 2000. Don loved being a firefighter and made lifelong friends with his fire department family. Don had many memories of his fire fighting years and had lots of tales and adventures that he was more than willing to share.
Don enjoyed retirement life and the special times with his grandchildren, friends (far too numerous to mention) and his beloved furry four pawed companions.
Special thanks to Dr. Benke, Dr. S. de Walle, Dr. D. Walsh, Dr. Ireland, the staff and nurses at the Jack Ady Cancer Centre, the nurses on 3B, Community Homecare and the St. Michael's Palliative Care Team for their heartfelt care.
At Don's request there will be no Funeral Service.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made in Don's name to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre - 960 19 St S, Lethbridge, AB T1J 1W5.

I send my condolences to your family. We lived across from your home on 8 avenue south Lethbridge. I remember you as being wonderful, kind, happy, family oriented neighbors.I am 97 years old now. It is always wonderful to have good neighbors.
Dear Eiinor & family May you find comfort in the memories that are yours to cherish always. Most sincerely Al & Aldis
Dear Elinor and the Carpenter family, it did sadden my heart when I read of your loss. I had the privilege of knowing Don many year ago, always a gentleman and a professional in his manner. You will miss him but I know you will have found memories and many stories to share. May the Lord give you peace in this time of sorrow. Hugs
Dear Scotty Our deepest sympathies to you and your family in the loss of your Dad. Brent and I have deep appreciation for those who put their lives on the line, and live and unfortunately sometimes die to serve others. True definition of a hero. This picture says it all. You must be so proud. Please know our hearts are with you at this time. Hugs Scotty
Eleanor, to you and your family, please accept our deepest sympathy for your loss. Donnie was a great guy and a true firefighter that I had the pleasure of working with and beside for over 30 years. Our prayers to you all, Lou & Arlene
