It is with shattered hearts that we announce the passing of our parents, CAROL and RON CHARLESWORTH, on Friday, October 27th, 2023 and Saturday, October 28th, 2023, respectively, in Calgary. Mom and Dad both turned 80 years young in 2023 and had celebrated 61 years of marriage in June.
Married in their hometown of Lethbridge shortly after high school, they would welcome three daughters Joyce, Joanne and Janice. After a move to Barons then Calgary, the family settled in Red Deer in 1974.
Dad worked as a pipeline inspector for the ERCB for the next 31 years, while mom worked clerical jobs and kept the household running. Along the way they shared a lifelong love affair with cars, Fords only tho! Going to car shows, winning trophies, socializing, they were enjoying the empty nesters life.
They moved to Burbank from Red Deer, where they made many friends and enjoyed their acreage, with love, laughs, and plenty of garden vegetables. Upon retirement, they moved to the acreage near Carmangay to be closer to his brothers. They enjoyed seeing their family more and loved to be back home in Southern Alberta.
Growing older is hard! It was no exception for Mom and Dad who finally relinquished living at the farm, and made the decision to come to Chestermere to be closer to their daughters.
Mom and Dad outlived all their siblings as well as their daughter Janice and granddaughter Kyla. What a couple of warriors they were.
In addition to their daughters Joyce (AL) Lowe and Joanne (Scott) Kane, mom and dad will be missed deeply by their grandchildren: Delany, Rachel (Spenser), Charlotte and Anakin.
Special thanks to Dr. Davis and the palliative care team at South Health Campus, as well as Calgary EMS who kindly arranged for Mom and Dad to have one last moment together enroute to mom's hospice…this was a treasured moment.
A Celebration of Ron and Carol's Lives will be held at EVAN J. STRONG FUNERAL HOME, 3625 - 12 Street N.E., Calgary, AB, on Friday, November 3, 2023 at 1:00 P.M. with Pat Siedlecki officiating. The Celebration of Life service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Ron and Carol's obituary on the Cornerstone website.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Rosedale Hospice, 920 - 7A Street N.W., Calgary, AB, T2M 3J3
