Chris was born in Vulcan, Alberta, to Larry and Betty Hagg. She is survived by her loving husband of 53 years, Ron Tait, and their daughter, Robyn Tait, who was her greatest pride. She also leaves behind her mother Betty Smith, and her siblings Terry Tiffin, Roy Hagg (Ida), Steve Hagg (Penny), Rob Hagg (Nicole), and Ron Hagg (Melissa). Chris was the “favourite aunt” to many cherished nieces and nephews.

She was predeceased by her father Larry Hagg, brother Joe Hagg (Monste), sister Vicky Williams (Roger), and nephew Dallas Williams (Tara).

Chris loved people and built her life around service. From her earliest jobs in a nursing home and a care home for children with Down’s syndrome, to her years driving school and city buses, she always made space for connection—especially with the elderly, the lonely, or anyone who simply needed to be seen. She also gave her time generously, coaching youth bowling and serving as President of Special Olympics.

She remembered the important things—birthdays, anniversaries, small kindnesses—and made a point of including those who might otherwise be overlooked. Chris had a way of making people feel like they were important and belonged.

She also had a gift for showing love through food. If she learned your favourite pie, she’d bake it—whether she had made it before or not. Her cabbage rolls were legendary. She loved hosting big dinners, which had one rule, you were free to leave after pie! In her final months, what she missed most was not being able to bake for the special people in her life.

Her devotion to her family, her community, and her quiet, consistent acts of love will be deeply missed and remembered with gratitude.

In lieu of flowers, the family invites donations in Chris’ memory to the Jack Ady Cancer Centre (through the Alberta Cancer Foundation) or Special Olympics Alberta.

A Celebration of Life will be held at the PARKBRIDGE ESTATES COMMUNITY HALL, 2920 29th Avenue S, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, August 23, 2025 at 1:00 P.M., with a short service followed by a reception from 2:00 P.M. until 4:00 P.M.

Susan Hendricks, August 17, 2025

Condolences to Ron and Robyn as the World has most certainly lost a blessed soul in Chris. The endearing memory is that you will have Chris as your eternal Guardian Angel. To say that Chris spent her life for others is an understatement, as she went above and beyond for all others ahead of herself. It was a pleasure knowing you Chris and be assured that you have inspired many to give a 'little more' for others and 'make a difference'......RIP Chris.....Ian Sanderson
