Left in sadness are his wife of 62 years, Myrna; daughter, Jackie (Bev); and son, Jeff; sisters: Judy MacKenzie and June Pigeon; brother-in-law, Rick (Jean) Barrett; grandchildren: Joey, Ben (Janelle), Jesse, Dani, Emma (Taylor) and Ava; and three great-grandchildren; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.

He was predeceased by his brothers, David and Harold Greene.

Clark was born on January 11, 1937 to Mabel (née Banks) and Harold Greene in Middleton, Nova Scotia. After working many jobs to pay for his education, Clark graduated with a B. Comm from Acadia University in 1960. That same year, he crashed a dance for student nurses in Halifax, where he met Myrna, who was the delegate from Manitoba. He was smitten, and a year later, he moved to Manitoba, where they married in 1962. Jackie was born in 1963, and the next year, Clark decided he wanted to teach. With great trepidation, they moved back to Nova Scotia, where he completed a B.Ed. in 1965, They returned to Alberta, where he taught high school history in Caroline. Jeff was born in 1966 and they moved to Lethbridge, when Clark was hired by the Lethbridge College to teach Business Administration.

Clark loved teaching. Within two weeks of classes starting, he knew the names of very one of his 200 students, remembering them for years after. He won the Distinguished Teaching Medal, completed two more Masters degrees, and authored two text books, which were used in colleges throughout Canada. Following his retirement in 1995, he and Myrna travelled extensively, often with friends, on driving trips, bus tours and 20 cruises. He was an excellent curler, a half decent golfer, an avid reader, and an enthusiastic Bridge player, earning his Life Master designation. He loved all sports, but was always loyal to the Maples Leafs and Blue Jays.

Dad’s greatest love was his family. He was a devoted and much-loved husband and father, and he loved each member of his wonderfully diverse family unconditionally. We will always remember his sage advice, his delightful “Clark-isms”, his incredible generosity, his wonderful hugs and so many family trips, whether to Nova Scotia, Manitoba or to Disneyland.

A Celebration of Clark’s life will be held at McKILLOP UNITED CHURCH, 2329 – 15 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, January 4, 2025 at 11:00 A.M. with Reverend Trevor Potter officiating. The Celebration of Life will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Clark’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to McKillop United Church (mckillopunited.ca/donate), Alberta Cancer Foundation (albertacancer.ca) or a charity of one’s choice.

I am so sorry to hear of Clarke's passing. Please accept my sincerest sympathies, Myrna. May the wonderful memories of your many years of marriage to Clark give you some comfort. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family!

We wanted to attend Clarks memorial service but we were out of the country at that time. He will never be forgotten. We always appreciated his friendliness and his sharp wit. Clark was always so helpful with his suggestions at bridge. We admired his positive attitude in spite of his sudden health setback. The legacy our loved ones leave in our hearts and the difference they made in our lives will be with us always. Thinking of you and your family with our deepest sympathy.

That was beautiful service. He would be very proud of you all. It was fitting for Clark. All the stories were good to hear. I'll never forget the day of our last game together. My condolences to all.

Wendy Egeland, January 4, 2025

I did not attend Clark's memorial in person but viewed it online this morning. It was a lovely service and the various speakers really described the Clark I knew. I curled in the Senior's League with Clark for many years, both on his team and as his opponent. He was unfailingly kind and supportive to everyone. I also knew him as a member of the Lethbridge Club and I used to say that he and Myrna were the only couple I knew who should be bridge partners as they got along so well. My sincere condolences to Myrna and all the family. Farewell Clark. You will be missed.

I am sorry for the loss of your husband, Myrna. You made a memorable impression on me during my early years at McKillop, however I did not get to know Clark at that time. After reading the full obituary online, I came to the realization that Clark was an outstanding husband, father and gifted individual who lived a full life. You now can feel relief that his suffering is over. Please pass on my condolences to your kids. There is no doubt. You chose well 62 years ago, Myrna!

Debra and Calvin Logan, January 3, 2025

My heartfelt condolences to Myrna and family.

Charlotte Caton, December 28, 2024

I’m so sorry for your loss. Thinking of you.

Linda Nagy, December 24, 2024

He was both a wonderfully pleasant teacher and wonderfully pleasant man. The kind of person who enters your life for a short period of time, yet their example remains part of you forever. I am forever grateful for his example and kindness toward me in the early 1990's, and am very saddened for your great loss.

Darcy Jarvie, December 18, 2024

Our deepest sympathies to you, Myrna, and to your family. Clark was the kindest of men. He will be greatly missed.

Kathleen & Stan Clements, December 17, 2024

Mr. Greene was the most amazing instructor! I looked forward to each of his Marketing classes and the structure he set up. Most of all, kindness was who he is. This world is less in his absence, the eternities blessed with his presence.

Randy Krammer, December 16, 2024

I was truly saddened to just now receive the news of Clark's passing. It brings back to memory all of the good times over many years that we shared together as couples.

Brad Fyfe, December 15, 2024

My deepest sympathies to you. I want you to know what a profound impact Mr. Greene had on my life when he was my instructor at LCC in the 1990’s. I would not be where I am professionally without his impact. As a new student at LCC, I had zero confidence in myself, but in my first marketing course, Mr. Greene encouraged me and brought out the best in me. His belief in me inspired me to excel, and I worked hard not to disappoint the first person who truly saw my potential. I graduated with honors and went on to earn my bachelor’s degree at the U of L, as he had encouraged me to do. Because of Mr. Greene’s unwavering support and belief in my abilities, I have enjoyed a successful career in my field. I also earned my master’s degree and am currently pursuing my Ph.D. Most importantly, I am now a professor of business administration at a state college in the U.S., a role I never imagined for myself until Mr. Greene’s influence changed the course of my life over 30 years ago. I want you to know that I honor Mr. Greene’s memory every semester by empowering my students to recognize their potential and strive for excellence, especially those who may not yet believe in themselves. His compassion and influence live on in every student I inspire, and I am forever grateful for the profound difference he made in my life. Mr. Greene’s impact on education and the lives he touched is truly enduring. Please know that his kindness, belief in others, and dedication to education remain deeply cherished and celebrated. With heartfelt condolences and gratitude, Beverly Fleischman

Beverly Cousins Fleischman, December 15, 2024

What I remember most about Mr Greene was his patience, his willingness to understand, his compassion. Mr Greene, that was how we addressed teachers in 1968-70, the years I was his student of business at Lethbridge Community College (Junior College, now Polytechnic)—but his approach was never formal; he actually listened to each of us. I can say without doubt that Clark was instrumental in my life. When I started at the college I had no plan, and very little motivation. He helped me reverse that. Mr Greene, Clark; was the instigator and driving force that allowed me and two classmates (Larry Svoboda, Joseph Pupp) to gain credit for our college work at the University of Alberta. I am quite sure that was the first time such a direct credit was granted. All three of us went on to earn Bachelor of Commerce degrees. We, all of his students, own him a very great deal.
