Cousins, Barry Dale Roach
Barry Cousins passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021.
Barry Cousins passed away on Monday, September 13, 2021.
Barry is survived by his loving wife Mary and sons Thomas and Hunter. He is also survived by his family: mother Becky, brothers Bob (Lois) and Bruce (Cathy), sister Beverly (Harry), and sister-in-law Lily; In-laws Cathy, Greg (Toby), Theresa (Rick) and Linda; and his nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts and uncles who were very special to him.
Barry was predeceased by his father William, his big brother Bill, his beloved in-laws Tom and Agnes Sobuliak, and by his grandparents Bill and Ida Stokes and James and Jenny Cousins.
Barry was born in Lethbridge in 1961 and stayed all his life because it was close to family and to all the places where he loved to hunt and fish. At a young age Barry's Dad and his Granddad Stokes started him on his passion for fishing and hunting which he enjoyed passing on to his sons and to anyone else interested in learning. Barry always looked forward to the opening day of pheasant hunting and to fishing trips with his lifelong friends Greg Hooper, Ken Kotkas and Darrell Sekiya.
Barry was larger than life and you often heard him well before you saw him. His presence filled the room. There were always so many laughs when Barry was around; he had the quickest and wittiest one-liners. He also had a unique and creative viewpoint and always came up with the perfect nicknames for people or things.
Barry was never without his fly fishing rod and he managed to catch and release an amazing variety of fish on flies that he had tied. He was extremely well read and his near photographic memory enabled him to recall a vast number of facts, dates and events. Barry was also an avid and highly animated sports fan.
Barry was not afraid to share his opinions, yet he was also deeply introspective and he showed so much kindness, empathy and compassion to those who needed it.
Barry was deeply loved and will be profoundly missed.
There will be a huge, quiet and dull void in the world without Barry in it.

Just saw this; had no idea. Used to bump into Barry (and Mary) periodically at a local pub and would sit a have a beer with him and talk a lot about dogs. Brought me pheasant breasts on more than 1 occasion which I had never tried; Barry told me if I bit on something hard, not to worry "might just be a little buckshot"
What a Great time we had fishing at Henderson Lake and the Old Man River. Sad, Yet Heaven has better fishin' holes than here. Much remembrance to a friend..
Grew up with Barry and my husband Kurt worked with him, he will be sadly missed. Thoughts and prayers to all his family.
Sending our love and thoughts to Mary and family. We have fond memories of Barry from many years ago in Lethbridge. Caprice Hogg & Dave Rous from Kimberley, BC.
