Dale Sherwood
1948 – 2026
Born in Lethbridge on September 22, 1948, Dale lived a life defined by patience, hard work, and a deep, steady love for his family. He was a devoted husband, a loving father to Brienne (Brad), and an adoring grandpa to Jaxson and Harlee, who were the true light of his life. He showed his love by always showing up—whether for a baseball game, football moment, or a princess birthday party. As his health declined, missing their accomplishments was one of his greatest heartbreaks.
Dale is now reunited with his son, Blaine, whom he carried close in his heart every day, as well as his parents, Dorothy and Vic Sherwood, and other loved ones who went before him. Dale is survived also by his sister Deb (Ken) Demchuk and sister-in-law Lynne Tuff.
Dale took great pride in earning his Journeyman sheet metal ticket in the 1970s, a trade that shaped his strong work ethic for life. In 1980, Dale and Lee opened their own family business, Persnickety, and together built far more than a store—they built a community. Dale could often be found wearing many hats at once: contractor, tradesman, merchandiser, and manager. He was affectionately known as “Mr. Busy,” and to many customers, the “grumpy guy at Persnickety.” But those who took a moment to look past the serious expression quickly discovered a patient, generous, and deeply caring man who would do anything to help—without ever expecting anything in return.
Dale showed love through action rather than words. He was steady, kind, and endlessly giving, with a quiet strength that held his family together through every season of life. His absence leaves a space that can never be filled, but his legacy lives on in the family he cherished, the business he poured his heart into, and the countless small, thoughtful things he did for the people he loved.
A Celebration of life will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 - 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Saturday, February 7, 2026 from 1:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M., with the service beginning at 1:00 P.M.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be sent to Mindful Munchies, Children’s lunch program connected with the Lethbridge food bank or a charity of your choice.

Oh how lucky I was to be able to work for 'the grumpy guy at Persnickety' for years, and how sad I was to hear of his passing. I worked with Dale for many years at Rafters gift store, and he would always 'go and check the mail' and stop at Grandma Lee's on the way back. What others may not always see what was beneath that facade of 'grumpy' was a heart that was so giving, so supportive, and that quiet type of strength that means so much. He made a huge impression on my life, and I only quit the job when I started my own business. I still have the gift that Lee and Dale gave me when I left the role (a beautiful teddy bear). I am a better person today because of my time with Dale. To Lee, Brienne (Brad), and Jaxson and Harlee - I know your hearts will ache and nothing will fill the space of losing your husband, Dad and Grandpa. I know you will carry him with you always, but I am so sorry for the pain and loss you feel today. <3

Lee, I’m so sorry to hear of Dale’s passing. I didn’t know him well, but I had the great privilege of teaching Blaine. May the Lord of all hold you close and comfort you.
My sincere condolences on Dale's passing. Persnickety was my late wife Merna's favorite store and she loved going there. Dale and Lee were always so kind and welcoming.
