Davies, Mary

MARY ROSE DAVIES passed away peacefully surrounded by her family, at Piyami Place, on Sunday, August 27, 2023 at the age of 88 years. 

She is survived by her husband, Ed Davies, of 68 years; her children: Mike (Nerys) and family, Joann (Hugh) and family, Kathy (Tim) and family, Cheryl (Denis) and family, and Nancy and family. 

Mary was born in Hillspring, AB to Gabor and Barbara Tokai. The family then relocated to Picture Butte to farm. Working on the farm and attending school in Picture Butte, Mary and her sister Elizabeth met two young brothers (Ed and Leo Davies) in the area.  Mom and Dad married November 9th, 1954 and have been together for 68 years. Mom worked at St. Michaels Hospital and Picture Butte Hospital as working as a Health Care Aide while raising five children. 

In their early retirement years, mom and dad worked at the Fly in Fishing Camp at Shadd Lake, SK for 16 years.  Mom worked very hard but enjoyed every minute of it. It was the best years of her life. 

Mom will be greatly missed by her husband, children, 11 grandchildren, 13 great-grandchildren, and many lifelong friends. 

Mom was predeceased by her parents, Gabor and Barbara Tokai; sisters, Margaret and Bernadette; brothers, Steve and Gabor; her son, Robert; and daughter-in-law, Josee. 

An immense thank you to Dr. Leishman, Picture Butte Ambulance staff, and the staff at Piyami Lodge and Place for the passionate care and support for our mother.

 A Prayer Service will be held at ST. CATHERINE'S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 7462 Crescent Avenue, Picture Butte, AB on Saturday, September 9, 2023 at 11:00 A.M. with Deacon Isaac Driedger officiating.
