Pat Demers fought a brave battle with cancer, surpassing all timelines her doctors suggested, but she succumbed in her sleep, peacefully, on Wednesday, November 2, 2016, at the Edith Cavell Care Centre in Lethbridge, at the age of 70.

Pat is predeceased by her parents, Jesse and Margaret Matlock, of Lethbridge, AB.

She leaves behind her loving, faithful husband of 49 years, Donat Demers, three daughters, Lisa (Richard) Brodowski of Maple Ridge, BC; Jennifer (Roldo) Eliason of Lethbridge, AB and Erin (Steve) Hyatt of Frankfurt, Germany.

'Gramma Pat' will be lovingly remembered by her grandchildren: James Demers, Stephanie and Ryan Brodowski; Brendon, Laura, Mariah and Hannah Eliason and Rowan Hyatt, and one great-grandchild, Nevaeh Eliason not to mention another one on the way in the Spring, whom we're sure she will meet before we ever do.

She was a gem of a sister to her two brothers; John (Corrine) Matlock of Libby, Montana and Tim Matlock (Linda Jensen) of Red Deer, AB. She also leaves behind several aunts and uncles, nieces and nephews, cousins and friends. She touched more lives that we will ever really know, especially in her various roles with the Health Care system in Lethbridge.

Her love of life and people made an indelible impression on the lives of all those who knew her. There was always room for one more at the dinner table, and in her heart. Pat was a compassionate, thoughtful and honorable woman who loved her family. She will forever be remembered as a beloved wife, mother, grandmother, sister, great-grandmother, aunt and friend.

The family would like to thanks Dr. Jack Haberman for his excellent care and friendship over the years as well as Dr. Shukkoor and the nurses and staff at Edith Cavell for their care.

In lieu of flowers, please donate generously to your favorite charitable organization.

A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 - Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, on Tuesday, November 8th, 2016 at 7:00 P.M., with Francis & Cybele Noronha officiating.

A Funeral Mass will be held at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12th Avenue South, Lethbridge, on Wednesday, November 9th at 11:00 A.M., with Father Roque Pereira as Celebrant.

A private interment will follow at Mountain View Cemetery, Lethbridge.

Dear Tim I know it has been many years since we last met. However, when I read that your sister had passed away I wanted to let you know that my thiughts and prayers are with you during this difficukt period. I also recently lost my sister to cancer, so my heart goes out to you. One thing that has helped me cope with my loss is the hope in the bible of the resurrection at acts 24:15 marcel.desjardins@gmail.com

Dearest Don & families, Heaven has gained a new angel. One who has an infectious laugh, makes yummy chocolates at Christmas, and a wonderful cook, who went all out. I often wondered: "how does she do it?" I remember Pat as a loving daughter, mother, and gramma. My Dad, who was a patient of Dr. Janzen's: just loved Pat. They would joke around while she was drawing his blood. We both looked forward to her making the medical experience: positive. And she did. Since Pat was diagnosed: I have kept her in my prayers daily. My own health and family challenges kept me from being in closer contact with my friends. In an ideal world: I would have phoned and visited her more. At Weight Watchers: we would sit together and celebrate our successes together. Losing a bit of weight every week. Don consistently beat out Pat & I for the most weight lost in the past week. I will always cherish the time Pat & I spent together. She had many caring ways to many. Her positive outlook on life: taking everything in stride with faith in God. I will continue to pray for her: for the repose of her soul: and for Don & family. My heart goes out to you all. I will miss her. Regretfully, I will not be able to attend either services for Pat - due to my high & serious risk to colds, etc. - with my lungs. With love and prayers, Karen

Don, Erin, Jennifer and Lisa & families, Our sincere condolences on the passing of your wife and your Mom. Her gracious warmth was always available to our family not only in our church celebrations, often with her parent's presence, with each of your shared gifts of music and singing, but also in your compassionate babysitting services for our young kids. May your journey of healing include the awareness of your Mom's beautiful ongoing "presence" in your lives and in the lives of your children and grandchildren. HIS peace to each of you.
