Edith Schafer

Marie is lovingly remembered by her five daughters: Lauraine (Andy) Pomerleau of White Rock, B.C.; Rosemary Egan of Seattle, WA; Colleen (Dave) Murdoch of Lethbridge, AB; Patricia (Mark) Vanderheyden of Florida; and Teresa Hachey of Cambridge, ON. She is also survived by nine grandchildren.

Marie was predeceased by her only son, Daniel Egan, in 1987.

Marie was born in Guelph, Ontario. She married Patrick Egan in 1949. Shortly thereafter, Patrick’s work took them to Montreal for three years. They moved back to Ontario where they raised six children together. Marie had a very successful career in Real Estate in Mississauga in the 80’s. In 1992, she relocated to Calgary, where she met and married George Schafer in 2006.

As per Marie’s wishes, there will be no funeral ceremony. However, there will be a Celebration of Life in Guelph in August of 2025. Her urn will be interred in a family grave at Woodlawn Memorial Park in Guelph, Ontario.
