Galen was predeceased by his parents JULES AND RUTH (Emberley), brother NORMAN, sister SHARON NUGENT.

Galen was always a larger-than-life personality with the gift of gab, affectionately known around town by his nickname “FRENCHY”. He was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec and in 1978 moved his family to Raymond, Alberta. Galen completed his apprenticeship as an electrician, becoming a journeyman, and continuing on to become a Master Electrician. He worked for a few different electrical companies, but ultimately chose to venture into a partnership then on to become self-employed where he remained for over 30 years.

Galen was involved in various groups and leagues around Raymond. Men’s league at Raymond golf course, Raymond Lion’s club, volunteer for Raymond fire department for over 10 years as well as cubs/scouts leader and co-coaching midget hockey for a season. He had many interests from cooking, camping, and playing guitar but his greatest joy was when he was fishing with his grandkids. There was always a great fishing story to be told and told with such great pride in his grandkids fishing abilities.

Galen was a loving husband, father, grandfather, great grandfather and friend and he will forever be in our heart and missed every day.

A Celebration of Galen’s life will be held at the RAYMOND BAPTIST CHURCH, 305E 400S, Raymond, AB, on Saturday, January 11, 2025 at 1:00 P.M.

Itee and I will always remember him.

Keith Baines, December 30, 2024

Condolences to the Bourgoin Clan. Galen was a man who knew his own mind; his sense of humor and kindness will always be remembered fondly. I have known Galen from the time I was young and he was working at Pascal’s in Montreal and he married my cousin Joanne. He and Joanne were my son Marc’s godparents. Even when they moved out to Alberta was saw the as we traveled across the country. He had a big heart and he will be sorely missed.

Galen was an integral part of our Crawford Park gang. He was always fun to be around. A real nice guy and a very good friend.
