Gerald Brown

Send a Tribute

Gerald Alexander Brown was born in Lethbridge at the Galt Hospital, and grew up on a farm in Iron Springs.

Gerald Alexander Brown was born in Lethbridge at the Galt Hospital, and grew up on a farm in Iron Springs.

He was the middle child of three, raised between two sisters.

When his dad was sent to war, the farm was sold and the family moved to Picture Butte, and later to Foremost. During his younger years, Gerry played both hockey and baseball.

In 1956, he married Dorothy (née Wolfe) and they were happily married for over 40 years. They made their home in Coaldale, where Gerry worked for the town in the water and sewer department.

In his spare time, Gerry enjoyed camping and salmon fishing, Campbell River being a favorite spot.

Gerry was predeceased by his wife Dorothy, and his sister Doreen Garner.

Gerry is survived by his younger sister Joyce West, daughter Pam Vogt (Terry), grandchildren Kyle Vogt (Cortney) and Sheena Lemoine (Jason), and great-granddaughters Eloise and Josephine Lemoine.

We wish to express our gratitude to the staff in the long-term care unit at St. Michael’s Health Center for their dedication and care over the past three and a half years.

It was Gerry’s wish that there be no funeral service.

With love and fondness, we will always remember Gerry’s calm, gentle manner, in which he put others ahead of himself.

He was the greatest uncle a guy could have. RIP Uncle Gerald.

Neil Garner, June 17, 2025

Sending sincere condolences from Coaldale. Gerry & Dorothy were both loyal to our Coaldale United Church. I can remember when Gerry was on the board- a brief tenure, as was my husband Armin's tenure. I think they were both loners and committee work didn't suit them. I sang with Dorothy for years- what a sweet voice she had. I would greet Gerry with "Hi Ger" and he would return the same greeting. When Joyce T and he were in the same senior's residence, I would visit her and we would go to the coffee room and dig Gerry our of his room on the way down the hall. Good visits.
