CATHERINE THERESE GLEASON, beloved wife of John "Jack" Gleason of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the age of 74 years.
CATHERINE THERESE GLEASON, beloved wife of John "Jack" Gleason of Lethbridge, passed away peacefully at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Thursday, July 19, 2018 at the age of 74 years.
Cathy was predeceased by her mother, Rose, her father, Lawrence Irvine and her sisters, MaryAnne Lomax, Margaret Steele and Patricia Imeson.
She is survived by her husband, John "Jack" of 53 years, her children, John (Angela) of Lethbridge, Paul (Judy) of Red Deer, Laura Kerr (Jim) of Lethbridge, and Tim of Calgary. She is also survived by her sister, Sally (Gerry) Pittman of Lethbridge, and sister-in-law, MaryLou Staddon of Kingston, Ontario. Cathy has 11 grandchildren and eight great-grandchildren, which she cared for greatly and enjoyed spending time with any time she could.
Cathy was born April 16, 1944 in Lethbridge, Alberta and was educated and spent her entire life here. Throughout Cathy's life, she had many different interests and jobs, and touched many lives in the process. She had the uncanny ability to bring out the best in everyone she encountered.
Cathy enjoyed helping out people wherever she could: from volunteering at the schools when her children were small, being the Sunday Mass organist at St. Patrick's Church for over 35 years, a typist long before computers for University students for their theses, lead secretary for the engineers at Alberta Environment and Executive Secretary for the 2009 Alberta Winter Senior Games.
Cathy was always a dedicated wife, mother and grandmother. Cathy supported and was involved with many community musical endeavors, to which she immensely enjoyed to watch and also participate in.
We would like to thank all the staff at Chinook Regional Hospital and Homecare for all their kindness and care.
A Prayer Service will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Wednesday, July 25, at 7:00 P.M., with Deacon Frank Peta officiating.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 - 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, Alberta on Thursday, July 26, at 10:00 A.M. with Father Kevin Tumback, Celebrant. Cremation will follow with an interment at a later date.
For those wishing to honour Cathy's life, memorial donations may be made to the Chinook Regional Hospital, 960 - 19 Street South, Lethbridge, Alberta T1J 1W5.

My sincere condolences to Jack and family. I have crossed paths with Cathy many times over the years through our children and her grandchildren and at social functions. She always had a positive word to say with a smile and an infectious laugh. Cherish all your beautiful memories.

Dear Jack and Family, Oleta and I are so sorry to hear of Cathy's passing. I will always remember her having a Vision as I renovated her kitchen. She was a remarkable person and we cherished your friendship over the years. We are sorry we are headed out on holidays and are unable to make either of the services.
