Dennis was born in Coaldale to Dorothy and Nobby. Denny grew up in Hardieville, going to school in Lethbridge. His love of music inspired Denny to teach himself to play guitar, which eventually led to Denny starting in the band The Checkers. They performed through Eastern Canada and U.S. This is where the rockstar met the groupie. They were married in Ontario on October 28, 1963, before moving back to Lethbridge to start a family. While working and performing, Denny attended the U of L to obtain his Bachelor of Arts. Dennis worked for many years at both tv stations, the majority being at CFCN as a commercial artist/therapist (he always had someone in the chair sharing some thoughts) until his early retirement. He continued doing art work for many people and businesses around Lethbridge. He also continued to perform with many people and bands, entertaining many, many people.
Denny was a long time member of the Okinawa Society and the Bonsai Club, and was a humble student of the Buddhist temple One of the many things we saw in dad was his attention to people, no matter who you were. He made everyone feel special. He was a great listener and always had the right reply. Right up until the end, he wanted to know how "You" were. Never complaining. We would like to send a special thanks to the nurses for their care of Dad.
As in life, Denny preferred no fuss or attention, no pomp or flair. At his request, there will be no funeral. Instead, he would like everyone to love more, laugh more and live more!

I just found out about Dennys passing. You don't meet very many true gentlemen in your life and I was privileged to have met and worked with him. He tried to teach me the guitar, I'm still crappy, sorry Denny. He did a couple of dot drawings for my father...incredible detail. He will be missed and I am so glad that I had the opportunity to know him.
With sympathy to Denny's family. Lorne Grey and I knew Den for many years always a smile and a chat. He will be greatly missed.
My heartfelt condolences to Denny's family and friends on his passing and a thank you to Denny for encouraging my own artistic endeavours when I was a writer at CFCN. Bless you!
I will always remember Dennis as a brother as we enjoyed the times we shared since we met in 1963. The walks we had in nature, the times we spent in Alberta, the tour he took us on in Alberta and the eastern coast of British Columbia as the best tour guide anyone could wish for, the day he lifted the barbells in Sackville, our camping trip of the Maritimes, and the too few phone calls we had. The 3 pictures he did for us will be a cherished mmemory of this multi talented man and best friend through the last nearly 50 years. My only regret is the fact we were too far away from each other to spend more personal time together. To Katie, Darla, Cindy, Dawn and all of Dennis' family and friends, may his memories replace the grief you have at this sad time. To Dennis, I look forward to us meeting again. Dale

Katie I offer my sincere condolences to you and the Goshinmon family. Dennis truly was a wonderful person with a pure heart. He made everyone feel like they were important and took the time to talk with them and actually care about what was said. I especially appreciate his "words of wisdom" about bonsais. I feel blessed to have known him. Mom always wanted to cook for Dennis and now maybe in heaven she can. May you find comfort in all the memories created during the wonderful times your family has shared together.

Kay & family, sincere condolences to all of you.
My sincerest condolences to the Goshinmon family. Dennis was truly a kind soul with many talents and a knack for making people smile. I will miss him greatly and regret not having the chance to play music beside him again.
I've never had anyone who influenced me so much. It wasn't his guitar playing or his artistic talent. It was the simplest thing we do as humans. His smile, his laughter and his love of people and making them smile either by his music or his art. He may not have been rich man, but the way he lived his life made him one of the richest people I know. It was my greatest pleasure to have him as a bandmate and a friend. Katie and family, please accept our deepest condolences.
Kay and family, I am so sadden to hear of Denny's passing. Please accept my warmest condolences and express my deepest sorrow for your loss. He was a kind and gentle soul and an old friend. Denny and his music will be sadly missed by many.
So sorry to hear of Dennis passing. I've known Dennis since the mid-60's when we both worked at Prebuilt. He always had time to stop and chat with my mother-in-law Betty Beattie when she was in Columbia and then later West Highlands when he was there performing...called her "Irish". Rest in peace buddy.
