GORDON ALBERT HILLMER, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Tuesday, September 5, 2017 at the age of 65 years.

Gordon is survived by Shirley, his wife of 24 years, as well as his sons Rod (Barb-deceased) Hillmer and Jason (Jennifer) Hillmer, his grandchildren Cassena, Jordan and Dakota, his sister Kathy (Scott), his brothers Chris (Noel) and Keith (Tammy), as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by his grandparents, parents, three brothers, one sister, one niece, and one nephew.

Gordon was born and raised in Del Bonita, AB, where he grew up on the family farm. He drove school bus, as did his dad and his grandpa. He farmed until 1994, when he sold the farm and moved to Lethbridge. He later became employed with the CFIA, where he worked until his retirement in 2015.

He was very active in the community. He loved to ride his snowmobile every chance he got, whether chasing coyotes or just visiting his neighbours. He supported his son wholeheartedly in their chosen sports, spending most weekends around a motocross track or a hockey arena. In later years, Gordon loved camping with Shirley, and any family who wished to join them.

Gordon is survived by his wife (Shirley) of the last 24 years, and his first wife (Lynn).

A Graveside Service will be held at the MAGRATH CEMETERY on Saturday, September 9, 2017 at 2:00 P.M. with Pastor Olivier Ravelojaona officiating.

A Memorial Reception will follow at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME - 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, September 9, 2017 from 3:00 P.M. to 5:00 P.M.

Living in Del Bonita was a very long time ago - but there is always a connection. I remember going to school with Gordon and I want his family to know that you have my heartfelt sympathy for your loss. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

It doesn't seem that long ago that Gordon and I both rode the school bus to the Del Bonita School. Albert drive our bus. Although we are both the same age, Gordion was a couple months older and was put in the grade ahead ahead. My thoughts are with all of his family. It's hard to think he's gone.
