It is with a heavy heart that the family of ELIZABETH "BETTY" ANN JACKSON announce her passing on Monday March 6, 2023, at the St Michael's Health Centre, at the age of 100 years.

She is lovingly remembered by her children, Carol (Wayne) Neilson, Michael (Tammy) Jackson, Julie (Gary) Pike, David (Tamara) Jackson, Bev (Alan Gajdostic) Jackson as well as grandchildren, great-grandchildren and extended family members.

Betty was predeceased by her parents, husband, two sisters and two brothers-in-law.

Betty was born December 10, 1922, in Regina Saskatchewan, the second of three daughters to Oliver and Merle Bright. The family lived in Fort Qu'Appelle, Saskatchewan during Betty's early years and then returned to Regina.

In 1942 Betty met and fell in love with Victor Sydney Jackson, an RAF Spitfire pilot from the Fiji Islands. They married December 31, 1943 and Victor was sent to England to train other pilots. After WWII ended Vic returned to Fiji from England and Betty set off on the adventure of a lifetime. Having never been away from home, she bravely journeyed alone to Fiji where she joined husband Vic. Together they raised 5 children, Carol, Michael, Julie, David and Beverley. In 1961 the family emigrated to Lethbridge, Alberta and reunited with Betty's family. They continued to live in and around the Lethbridge area, but their happiest years were those spent on their acreages at Kipp and Diamond City.

Betty will be remembered by her family and friends as a dedicated mother and a kind, compassionate and loving person. Nothing made her happier than visitors or family popping in for a cup of tea, cookie and a chat. She was an avid reader, enjoyed gardening, nature and had a deep love for animals.

Her family wish to acknowledge the special friendships Betty formed during the  years she lived in Nobleford.  She treasured each and every relationship and was forever grateful to the incredible kindness extended to her. Many happy times were shared over countless cups of tea and cookies and Betty felt like she was part of a big family.

A heartfelt thank you is also extended to the residents, staff and management of Pemmican Lodge for the love and care she received in the latter years of her life that she spent there.

Betty's family would also like to thank the Doctors and nursing staff at the Chinook Regional Hospital and St Michael's Health Centre for their excellent care and compassion. Their dedication and comforting words made this journey easier to bear for the family.

Donations may be made in lieu of flowers and in memory of Betty to an animal rescue or an animal shelter organization.
