She married Raymond Barnes in 1952. They lived in Saskatchewan until 1967, when they moved to Drumheller. They enjoyed raising their six children and forming many friendships while living in the valley. Ray passed away in 1985. In 2013, Janet moved to Lethbridge to be closer to family.
Janet is survived by all six of her children: Murray (Ludmila); Myrna (Elio); Kelly (Lori); Brian (Nanette); Tim (Sarah); Leanne (Scott). She is also survived by six grandchildren and many great grandchildren. She also leaves her sister Sylvia McLeod (Colin – deceased) and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband Ray, Janet was predeceased by her sister Betty McDougall (Lorne), and her brother Allan Beaton.

Good afternoon, My name is Cody J. Barnes. My grandmother, Janet Barnes, passed away at the age of 98. My grandmother was, and remains, a source of profound admiration for me and my family. Her unwavering care extended to all of us. Her loss is deeply felt, particularly the absence of a final farewell. She is now reunited with my grandfather, Ray Barnes. On behalf of the Barnes family, I express our sincere gratitude for the opportunity to have her memory included on your esteemed platform. She was an exceptional individual who holds, and will always hold, a cherished place in our hearts. With love and enduring remembrance, Cody J. Barnes
Sincerest sympathy to all the family. Jane Dupuis , Sheila, Cheryl, Wendy and families. Sorry I wasn’t able to attend the graveyard service.
Thinking of you all at this time. I have fond memories of Aunt Janet. ❤️
My deepest condolences to the Barnes family. Your mom was an amazing person and admired by everyone who new her. RIP Janet
