Joan MacLean
Those who knew and loved her called her Joan, Joanie, or Mrs. MacLean. To us, she was simply “Mom.” She was the bravest, fiercest 100 pounds you could ever meet. Strong, independent, hardworking, and adventurous, she lived life to the fullest. Above all, she adored her three children: Bruce, Ken, and Robin, and her granddaughter, Ashley.
She was also the sweetest, cheeriest, and most caring mother, friend, sister, daughter, grandmother, aunt, and mother-in-law. When she answered the phone, her singing greeting made it clear that you were about to hear her big smile. She had a goofy, silly side, and it was always easy to make her laugh. Whether it was painting, stained glass, needlepoint, or knitting, Mom was always creating something beautiful.
She had a deep love for gardening, camping, and the natural world. Simple joys like tulips, lilacs, sunflowers, yellow rubber ducks, feeding the birds, enjoying a strawberry sundae, or savoring a good cup of tea brought her endless happiness.
We will miss so many things—her voice, her smile, our chats, our walks, gardening together, lunch dates, movies, ice cream outings, and picnics in the park. Most of all, we’ll miss holding her hand. On February 24th, we held it one final time as we told her how much we loved her, and she peacefully passed away.
We are incredibly thankful for all she did for us, for the lessons she taught us, and for the people she helped us become. We love you, Mom.
If you have a special memory of her, we would love for you to share it.
At Joan’s request, no formal funeral service will be held. Cremation entrusted to Cornerstone Funeral Home.

Joan was a wonderful lady. Always pulled through difficult times no matter what…she was very strong. Jim loved his sister very much and I appreciated her as well. She came to visit us a few times and it was always a pleasure to have her around. May she rest in peace. Take care you all… Your old aunt Christine
