John was predeceased by his parents Robert and Ivy Lothian, his in-laws Peter and Frieda Husch, his sisters Jessie Pearson, Nan Leonard, Janet Baker, Bobbie Jones and his brother Bob Lothian.
John was the kind of man who didn’t need much to be happy—just his family, a tidy garage, and a sunny day on the golf course. For 35 years, he worked with dedication and humility at Canadian Natural Gas Company (ATCO), a job he did with care, consistency, and without fanfare. He was a man of few words but endless reliability—the kind of person who always read the manual, changed the oil on time, and could somehow make anything last twice as long as it should. His six grandchildren were lucky to call him Grandpa, and will carry on his quiet wisdom, his gentle humour, and maybe even his short game.
We are gathering at PARKBRIDGE ESTATES COMMUNITY CENTRE, 2927 – 29 Street South, Lethbridge, AB, on Monday, June 16th , 2025, from 2:00 P.M. to 4:00 P.M. to celebrate John’s life. The community centre is located immediately upon entering into Parkbridge Estates.

Maria and Family-----My sincere condolences to all of you at this sad time of your lives. I know and believe that the memories of all things in the past will help you through this time. Again, sincerely, Maxine
I think that my twin sister and I were the oldest ones on that block. I am now 78 years old and she passed away in May, and we had a younger brother. Of the Lothian children, I remember the girls walking by to school and I think that they were twins. Our family lived south of the Lothian's, we were the house just south of the brick home where the Wests lived. We had a natural gas heater put in our basement and it was used in the winter to help heat the basement. To our mom, the only certified person to light the natural gas heater, was John Lothian. Dad and I were not the ones that mom normally used, she would get on the phone and call John to come over and light up the heater. I have always wondered what John and his wife thought when they got the call from mom for John to come up to the Woolley's house and light that gas heater. Through the years I have thought about John coming to light the heater and today I am fulfilling a wish. That when John passes away, and sorry to hear about him, is tell this story to his children and I know that his wife will remember my mothers request for John.
My sincere condolences Maria to you and your family. My mom Marlene always spoke about John as a kind co-worker at Canadian Western. He was so good with the public and was such a pleasure every work day. John was genuinely nice.
My sincere sympathy to you Maria and family. I have known John as a good friend for over seventy years . During our single years we travelled together with John O.. There were many times we travelled to several nearby towns to dances , basket ball games and other functions we always had fun. When at the end of high school we had this great idea of starting a rug shampooing business. We bought a mechanical rug shampoo machine for $450 and away we we went. John O. was our salesman. However we got tired of looking for business, and we closed shop. We had many memorable good times. Rest in peace my friend
Our sincere condolences to you Marie and family. Our hearts are with you at this difficult time!
Uncle John will be remembered for his quiet, but steady presence by all those who knew and loved him.
My condolences to his family especially Greg and his sisters
