On behalf of the family of Ken and Phyllis Branch and on behalf of my family I wish to extend our condolences on the passing of John. We always enjoyed his wit and his wisdom. I especially fondly remember watching he and Elsie dancing up at storm at 702 Wing functions.
Your dad was one of my dad's (Harvey Lee) favourite YMCA friends. The Y finally gave them free memberships in their late 80's and in return they had to pose for an ad stating "you're never too old to join". One of dad's saddest days was when he failed his driver's license and couldn't drive anymore. It was a story he told and retold everyone who would listen, then would also say that Sam...on the other hand....kept trying and finally he passed.
He will be sadly missed by the Germsheid family. We are so sorry for your loss.
Although my family and I are not able to be there in person, we are there fully in spirit. Over the last 20 years John became more than just a family friend. He was my father Dennis's closest friend, and I am sure that the two of them are together in a better place now. John was, and still is, an inspiration to me on how we should all live our lives. I don't believe that I ever saw him without a smile on his face and a joke to entertain. He made you feel like family, and that is how we viewed him. We viewed him as a member of our family and my kids know him as grandpa John. A true family man... A mans man... A man that will be missed...
