Joe was predeceased by his wife Martha “Marty”, son Glen, parents Herman and Marie, sisters Carmel, Theresa, Catherine, Mary and Margaret and brothers Gerald, Basil, Albert, Edward, Paul and Leo.
Joe was born in Mazenod, SK, and was educated in Mazenod and Gravelbourg, SK. He enlisted in the Canadian Army from September 1941 until September 1945. He proudly served his country until he was honorably discharged in Calgary, where he took advantage of the Armies retraining program to train as a watchmaker and gemologist. After completion of the three-year program, he was awarded membership in the Canadian Jewellers Institute as a certified Watchmaker, one of the few in Western Canada at that time.
Joe then moved his family to Lethbridge to start his new career. After seven years of working for other jewellery stores, he started his own business, Seeman’s Jewellery, in July 1956, where he remained until his retirement. After retiring, Joe spent many warm winter months with his friends in Mesa, AZ.
Uncle Joe was beloved by all who knew him, young and old. He had as many young friends as old, hence the name “Uncle Joe”. He will be sadly missed by them all.
A Funeral Mass will be celebrated at OUR LADY OF THE ASSUMPTION CATHOLIC CHURCH, 2405 – 12 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, on Tuesday, January 30, 2024 at 12:00 Noon with Father Santiago Torres celebrating. The Funeral Mass will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Joe’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made in Joe’s memory to Chalice (chalice.ca), The Canadian Cancer Society (cancer.ca), Covenant Health Foundation (covenantfoundation.ca), The Last Post Fund (lastpostfund.ca) or a charity of one’s choice.

My Sincere Condolences to such a Great Family! So proud and honored to know the Seeman Family!
I will always be greatful to Joe and Marty for all they did for me as I was growing up in craziness. The memory that keeps returning puts me at the Seeman dinner table, with all gathered around and Joe sitting at the head of the table, his large warm brown eyes scanning the crowd, and a blissful smile on the corners of his lips. He said very little and never criticized anyone or anything. He was a quiet man, sensible, thoughtful and humble. I loved Joe very much, just as I had loved your mom and all the rest of those brothers by osmosis and especially my dearest friend Sharon. Sincerest condolences on this most intimate family loss.
That was a beautiful service - our thoughts are with you.
All of my love is with all of you today. Wishing I could be there.
We have lost a other great sole.
A life well lived and loved by all. That was Uncle Joe. Rest in Peace
We will forever remember all the memories with Uncle Joe and his family and all the fun we had. You will be forever missed.
We will forever remember the memories we had with Uncle Joe his family and all the fun we had. You will be forever missed.
We will forever remember all the good memories and so much fun that we had with Uncle Joe and family. You will be missed.
Thinking of all the good memories with uncle Joe, he lived a long and mostly happy life. My thoughts are with all the family.
Uncle Joe was one of the most incredible people in the world. Wayne remembers spending many summers with Uncle Joe and Auntie Mart and the rest of the family. One of Wendy's memories is having so much fun in the jewelry store looking at diamond rings but kept the one that Auntie Mart had sent up to Wayne that he proposed with. They will both be greatly missed but we will carry around those memories plus many others in our hearts.
Dave and Nancy--- Our sincere sympathy at this sad time of your lives. I remember your Dad from his work with Jack Foster, which was some time ago. A lot of happy memories hopefully will help with the loss that you feel at this time. Again, sincere sympathy from the Richards Clan. Momma Max
Uncle Joe was a very special person and will be missed by many. Our thoughts and prayers go out to all of you at this time.
I knew Joe when I was growing up in the '50s on the north side in Lethbridge. At the time, the Orich brothers played and were friends with Glen, Roddy and Sharon. Time passed by and Joe moved the family to the south side. Unfortunately we lost touch, but after I was married I stopped in to see Joe at his jewelry store and he made my wife Annette's family ring over 40 years ago. She still wears it every day. A few years ago, Glen called me and invited me to the Legion to celebrate either Joe's 99th or 100th birthday. We had a few beers and it was good to see Joe and the Seeman's again. I'll never forget that day! Here's to you Joe (and Glen).
Uncle Joe is the last of all of our uncles and aunts on the Seemann side of the family and will be missed dearly. I always enjoyed the time spent with Joe and Marty and their kids when we visited at various holidays and reunions. Hopefully we will see all of you this summer. Love and sympathy to all. Please take care.
Only person I know that enjoyed having us as kids pour ice cold water over him
