Dennis was born on August 2, 1959 and was the sixth child of Clem & Frances Kaupp. His childhood years were spent with his parents, five brothers and three sisters on the family farm in Raymond. When Dennis was nine years old, he and his family moved to Lethbridge. He attended Catholic Central High School and was a proud member of the Cougar football team. Following graduation, he played football with the Medicine Hat Rattlers.
From Medicine Hat, Dennis became a member of the truck driving community where he was an owner/operator before driving for Robyn's Trucking and Pokolm Trucking until his passing.
Family was the center of Dennis' life. He was a Boy Scout leader during his sons' Beaver, Cubs and Scout years. He also curled with the ANAF Family Curling and assisted in coaching Lethbridge Lions football team. Many summer weekends over the years were spent with family and friends waterskiing at Tommy's Bay or camping elsewhere. Dennis hosted many events with his family and friends, including holiday dinners and sausage-making.
Dennis' courageous battle with cancer was admired and respected by his loved ones. He had a huge heart and generous spirit and would help anyone even before they asked. His ability to bring family and friends together will be remembered. He was a loyal friend to many and will be dearly missed.

My heart is breaking. Although I haven't seen Dennis in a long time, I still consider him one of my greatest friends. This has come as a shock and I wish I had one last time to see him. I am not able to get home due to the snow and so I will not be able to be with you today, but know I am thinking of you and remembering a great friendship. Dennis was one of a kind and won't be forgotten by anyone who knew him. My deepest sympathy to Sandie, Braeden, Cody and Adam
