Ken is survived by his loving wife of 70 years, Beverley; son Dale (Cindy) of Calgary; son Ross (Susan) of Milk River; son Garth (Beth) of Coutts, and daughter, Noreen Blackmer (Mike) of Coutts; 15 grandchildren and 44 great-grandchildren. Ken will be deeply missed by all who know him and loved him.

He was predeceased by his parents, two younger siblings and grandson Jordan McCoy.

Kenneth Ralph McCoy was born to James Vincent McCoy and Martha Sterchi McCoy on August 21, 1931 in Warner, Alberta. He joined older brother Donald McCoy and was later followed by Jim and Shirley. At the time of Ken’s birth, his parents were farming rented land northeast of Warner. James was able to purchase land north of Milk River in about 1939 and moved the family to the farm where they raised their children. Ken attended school in Milk River. Following school, Ken worked a few different jobs.

On August 10, 1954, Ken married the love of his life, Beverley June Barrows McCoy in Sweetgrass, Montana. They spent the first few years of marriage living in the bunk house on the farm. Ken and Bev were able to buy the “home place” in 1957, where they lived and farmed until 1985, when they built their home in Milk River.

A Funeral Service will be held at ST. PETER’S CATHOLIC CHURCH, 301 Main Street NW, Milk River, AB, on Saturday, October 26, 2024 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Keith Dangerfield and Pastor Don Kelley officiating. The Funeral Service will be live-streamed and may be viewed through Ken’s obituary on the Cornerstone website.

In lieu of flowers and in memory of Ken, donations may be made to the Alzheimer Society of Alberta (Alzheimer.ca/ab/en)

Dale, Ross, Garth, Noreen Ken and Bev, for me, were a big part of my growing up on the farm. The farmers and wives in that farming area stuck together and helped each other out. Ken and Bev helped us several times when Dad or mom was sick or unable to work the farm. I had many opportunities to "babysit" you four darlings ! Often I would sleep over and catch the school bus in the morning with you. Your Dad would always ask "How were the kids, any trouble?" He made sure you were well behaved. My condolences to you and your families in the loss of dear Ken.

I send my sympathy to the family & friends of Ken McCoy, a great man I knew as one of the spiritual giants of the beautiful McCoy, Barrow, Horgus, Dangerfield families. These families combined love, grace & spiritual strength was a priviledge to experience, I am eternally thankful. I pray the influence of these lives changed by Jesus, will live on, flourish & continue to inspire their children, grand & great-grandchildren and beyond to follow the path of our Lord lived by these great ones - one being Ken McCoy.
