Leong, Phyllis Marie

PHYLLIS MARIE LEONG, of Lethbridge, beloved spouse of the late Dr. Saw Taik Leong, passed away peacefully at the Edith Cavell Care Centre on Sunday, March 12th, 2017 at the age of 84 years.

Left to cherish Phyllis' memory are her children Richard and Rosemarie, as well as her grandson Luke.

Besides her husband Saw, Phyllis was predeceased by her parents William Sydney and Edith Marie Evans, as well as her sister Valerie Jane Evans.

Phyllis was born in Gillingham, England in 1932 and during her nursing career she met her husband at the Royal Eye Hospital in London, England in the early 50's. They were married thereafter in Chatham, England in 1956 and came to Canada in 1957. They resided in Kingston, Ontario for a year until settling in Lethbridge in 1958, where they resided until their passings. Phyllis was a very outgoing and sociable person who loved to spend time with friends and family and especially took pride in making a difference in people's lives. She enjoyed travelling (especially cruises), gardening, reading, sewing, knitting and getting together with her "Birthday Club Ladies". Phyllis constantly found the bright side of any situation regardless of her personal circumstances and will be fondly remembered for adapting and finding the best in any situation. She will be dearly missed by all who knew her.

A Memorial Reception will be held at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2800 Mayor Magrath Drive South, Lethbridge, AB, on Thursday, March 16, 2017 from 2:00 to 4:00 P.M.
