SHARON LEIGH MALEC (née Snow), beloved wife of Roy Malec of 49 years, passed away with her family by her side, at the Foothills Health Centre, on Sunday, August 8, 2021, at the age of 73 years.
Besides her husband Roy, Sharon is survived by their daughters: Melissa (Alan) De Leon of Sherwood Park and Erin Malec of Sherwood Park. Sharon also leaves behind her grandchildren, Matteo and Danica De Leon; and her brother Brad's children, Karlie and Adam.
She was predeceased by her parents, Norma and Calvin Snow, her brothers: Brad, Scott and Robin and grandson Noah De Leon.
Sharon was born in Vulcan, Alberta, lived in Medicine Hat and Calgary, and settled in Fort Macleod, where through teaching, she met and married the love of her life Roy. Shortly after having their daughters, they moved to Claresholm. At her first retirement in 1997, Sharon and Roy relocated to Lethbridge. Retirement was short lived as she was asked to teach music a few hours a week. This evolved to teaching full time music and transitioning to Foods and Religious Education at the junior and senior high level.
Sharon loved music, church, quilting, Catholic Women's League and Girl Guides. She was active with the music ministry at church for decades and highly involved with the University of Lethbridge Senate. Sharon leaves behind a great legacy of enriching the lives of others.
Her grandchildren Matteo and Danica meant the world to her.
Funeral Parastas (Prayers) will be held at SS. PETER AND PAUL CATHOLIC CHURCH, 643 - 12B Street North, Lethbridge, AB., on Friday, August 13, 2021 at 5:00 P.M. with Father Gary Sedgwick officiating. The family will be holding a private Celebration of Life at a later date.

I knew Sharon through the Catholic Women's League--sincere condolences on your loss. She was such a fine gal--lots of fun--and a true CWLer! I'm very sorry for your loss.
I did not know you real well but your ever present smile was always disarming suggesting you are likely loved by everyone that knows you. Being only a few months older than me and which I still consider young your death was away too early. But the good Lord obviously wanted you. You will be a great loss to not only your family but community. We feel assured you are now "pulling for the rest of us". God Bless and rest you and we ask the great Lord to continue blessing and supporting your family to continue living to the fullest as she and the great Lord wants us to do. Blessings. Michael and Gloria Cormican

Shocked and in disbelief on the passing of Sharon. Please accept my deepest and sincerest condolences on the loss of your loved one. I served alongside Sharon in 2015-2017 when she was Diocesan President. A beautiful, gracious lady, witty, funny and a woman of many talents. A great loss to the CWL but we all have learned from her. May the good Lord bless you with strength to carry on during this difficult time. Rest in Peace Sharon. With loving prayers.
Sharon taught music to my boys in elementary school with such expertise that when Peter went to teach as a volunteer in Edmonton came home and said where is my grade 3 music notes from Mrs Malec. I am so terribly shocked on the passing of Sharon. I met Sharon with the Catholic women's league Many years ago. I admired her beauty and her love of music and her knitting. Her hard work with the league and her beaming personality. I loved to watch her knit. She said I'll knit you a hat. I did receive two hats in the mail just a few months ago from Sharon. A treasure I will wear in her honour. Rest In Peace my dear friend. Will miss you at our fall meeting in September. I know you will be there in spirit. Sincere condolences to her husband, her children and great grand kids. She always spoke highly of them.
