Marla Brown
1944 – 2024
Born on March 3, 1944, in Vancouver, BC, Marla was a beacon of love, strength, and kindness. She shared a beautiful life with her devoted husband, Bob “Bobby” Brown, whose memory she cherished deeply after his passing. Marla’s greatest joy was her family, and her life was a testament to the power of love, laughter, and connection. She found happiness in the simplest moments—playing cards, clogging, and sharing stories with those she loved most. Her warm smile, infectious laugh, and boundless generosity left a special place in the hearts of all those who knew her.

Marla was the heart of her family and will be forever missed by her children: Laurie (Kim), Kurt, Diane (Mike), and Renee (Mal); her cherished grandchildren: Graeme (Kirby), Cameron (Jamie), Perry (Jen), and Kim; and her seven (soon to be 8) great-grandchildren. She also leaves behind her sister-in-law, Luba (Terry), and a wide circle of nieces, nephews, and friends who were like family to her.
The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to the staff at Chinook Regional Hospital for the compassion and care they showed Marla in her final days. Marla’s legacy of love will forever live on in the hearts of her family and friends. She gave us the gift of her unconditional love, and we will carry her memory with us every day. Until we meet again, Marla, may you dance among the stars and play cards with the angels.
A celebration of Marla’s incredible life and love will be held in the spring of 2025, a season she adored. Marla will also be laid to rest in the spring, details to follow at that time.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly asks that donations be made in her memory to The National Poppy Trust Fund, (www.legion.ca) or Windy City Canine Rescue, (www.windycitycaninerescue.com), causes close to her heart.
“Those we love don’t go away; they walk beside us every day.”

I had the pleasure of meeting and working with Marla at the downtown IGA years ago. We would share in stories and have a few inside jokes throughout the day! She always spoke so highly of her family. Condolences.
Deepest condolences
It was wonderful being friends with your mom. Although John knew her since school days, I met her about a dozen years ago. We enjoyed going to the movies and doing yoga and socializing at the Senior Centre while your mom was able. We never ran out of things to talk about while chatting on the phone. We miss her. Our sincere condolences to the family.
Kurt, my condolences to you and your family. You are in my thoughts.
So beautifully said. She was a beacon of light you gravitated to. Colorful in life and she will continue to walk in our lives and bring joy on the breeze.
Condolences to you and your family Diane on the loss of your beautiful Mom
Condolences to the family. I knew Marla from Reveller's supper and card nights - a few years ago now, since that Club has since disbanded.
