The amazing spirit of ERIN MATT (née Linnard) slipped from earth to heaven on Saturday, October 24, 2020 in Lethbridge at the age of 38 years.
Erin was born on March 1, 1982 in Banff to Glynn and Evanne Linnard. She attended elementary and high school in Canmore before completing an Education degree at the University of Lethbridge. She married Greg Matt in 2004. They built their lives and community in Lethbridge while Erin taught elementary school in Warner. Erin was an inspired teacher who gave her all for her students.
Erin's greatest joy, her son Bentley, arrived in 2011.
In 2010, Erin was diagnosed with Von-Hippel Lindau syndrome. Over a decade that included difficult surgeries, complicated treatments, and an early end to her teaching career, Erin openly shared the highs and lows of her experiences and became an advocate, inspiration, and educator for those living with permanent and invisible disabilities.
Erin was an endlessly giving mother, wife, daughter, sister, friend and lifelong teacher who was committed to making life joyful, memorable, and meaningful for those around her.
Erin will be lovingly missed by her husband and son, Greg and Bentley Matt, of Lethbridge; her parents, Glynn and Evanne and her brother, Adam Linnard (Lauren Kepkiewicz) and adored nephews Bryn and River, all of Canmore; and her friend-families from Lethbridge, the Bow Valley, and elsewhere.
Erin's life will be celebrated in a Private Ceremony on Monday, November 2, 2020 at 10:30 A.M. with Pastor Kevin Driver officiating.
For those who wish to view, the service will be live streamed and may be accessed via Erin's obituary on the Cornerstone website.
In lieu of flowers and in memory of Erin, donations may be made to a charity of your choice.

Erin was a hero to me. I met her many years ago at the Warner School. She never gave up, she always saw the good in even the worst of times. I pray that you find some comfort in the days to come and know that many people care and are sending you thoughts of strength and love during this time.

My sincerest condolences to the family. I had known Erin through mutual friends and I'll never forget the day we ran into each other at Henderson Park, we had a nice visit while the boys played. Despite all her body was going through, she was a warmth and joy & what great humor! What was very apparent was just how incredible of a mother she was! She was an example to us all. Rest well ?

We are so sorry to hear about Erin's passing. She is such a positive person and a wonderful mother. Although we didn't see her face to face that often, she always had amazing and inspiring Facebook posts. Thinking about your family so much.
It's been such a journey as we have watched Erin's life over the years. From a quiet little girl to a strong women with a heart to teach and communicate. She will be so missed. So glad we got to see her again this last summer.

I was so so sad to learn of Erin's passing. I very much enjoyed the times I got spend with Erin - her smile and laugh, her wonderful positive presence and dang was she ever gorgeous. That beautiful hair! She inspired me to build intentional memories with my kids and to be brave in adversity. The world is a little less bright without her in it. I am praying your whole family.

From the moment I met Erin she was warm and kind, with an infectious laugh and a great sense of humour. I immediately felt comfortable in her presence, as did my little babe who was content to be snuggled by Erin all day. l am inspired by the way she lived each day with such raw honesty, and incredible strength. I only met Erin once during Adam and Lauren's commitment ceremony in 2015, and had heard stories of her for many years before that. Meeting her in 2015 I immediately saw the way she lived her life full of joy, and how that joy spread the second she walked into a room. Adam, Lauren, Glynn, Evanne, Greg, Bentley, I have no words for your loss and heartbreak. I'm holding space for you in my heart and in my thoughts.
Erin was such a fiercely brave woman. She handled her illness with grace and dignity. I learned so much from her and will never forget her. Strength and peace to all her family and friends.
