The last hand has been dealt and the cards put away.
With heavy hearts, the family of RUTH BARBARA ORCHARD wishes to announce her passing. Ruth passed away at Fairmont Extendicare with her daughters at her side on Tuesday, January 28, 2020 at the age of 97.
Left with wonderful memories are her daughters, Elaine VandenBerg and Reta Ellice, daughter-in-law, Betty Orchard, eight grandchildren, 21 great-grandchildren and 16 great-great-grandchildren.
Ruth was predeceased by her husband Lawrence, son Dr. Ken Orchard, sons-in-law Jan VandenBerg and John Ellice, two sisters and four brothers.
Being a farm wife most of her life, Ruth was a hard worker. Her days were spent driving school bus, growing a huge garden, tending to farm chores and raising three children. A game of cards was one form of relaxation for her and from that, she became the master crib player! Upon retirement and moving to Lethbridge in 1992, Ruth was a life member of Nordbridge Seniors Center where she enjoyed the camaraderie and of course, crib games. She was a loving part of four generations who are left with fond memories of her sense of humour, quick wit and the warmth of her welcoming home.
Family and friends are invited to a Celebration of Ruth's Life at CORNERSTONE FUNERAL HOME, 2825 - 32 Street South, Lethbridge, AB on Saturday, February 8, 2020 at 11:00 A.M. with Pastor Harold Cooper officiating.

I love you Grammy- may you now rest in peace and be with grandpa. Being the youngest of your 8 grandchildren, I am proud to have called you grammy. You truly were the grandma any grandchild could want. May I have your beauty and longevity.
Have a good sleep "Honey", love meeting you and hope to see you in the future. Always in my memories.
