Oude-Reimerink, Marjike

MARIJKE OUDE-REIMERINK (née Gast), age 85, passed peacefully on April 2, 2020 in Lethbridge, AB, almost exactly 11 years following the passing of her dear husband, Hendrik Gerardus Oude-Reimerink.

Born in Aadorp, Netherlands on October 13, 1934, Marijke was the daughter of Jacob Gast and Hendrikje Jantje (Hinke) Rosema. Marijke married her storybook sweetheart, Henk, on July 21, 1956. With immense courage, the newlywed couple ventured to Montreal, QC in 1956 to start their own adventure.

She raised her children to find beauty in the simple outdoors by spending their summers camping and hiking; enjoying and teaching about the surrounding nature. She taught her children to be strong and steadfast in all obstacles.

Marijke loved to love on people. She spent days knitting sweaters and alike for family and friends. She volunteered with Meals on Wheels to give back to her community in Fort Erie, ON. She was a friend to anyone in need; she was always a phone call away to her family remaining in the Netherlands.

She is predeceased by her husband, Hendrik Oude-Reimerink; her parents, Jacob and Hinke Gast; her brother, Herman Gast; and her sister, Femke Querido.

Her spirit is carried on by Josephine and George Kush, Yvonne Oude-Reimerink, Jake and Dinah Oude-Reimerink, and many loving grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She leaves behind in the Netherlands her sister, Gerdine Wijnmaalen, and her brother, Eeuwe Gast (Yvonne).

Marijke was a devoted wife, mother, Oma, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who were lucky to know her.
