Peter was known for his dedication to his family, his hard work, and his warm spirit. He is survived by his children: Robert (Angela), Christina (Wally), and Peter (Coral); as well as his grandchildren: Zachary, Taylor, Jamie, Rylee, Adam, and Evan. He is also survived by his sisters, Edith and Hannelore.

Besides his loving wife, he was predeceased by his parents, Friedrich and Elsie Wigand; and his brothers Lothar, Hans Gerhard, and Hilmar.

Peter had a natural knowledge of how things worked and could fix nearly anything. His innovative ideas and entrepreneurial spirit were evident in his work as a mechanic, during which he developed an ultrasonic parts cleaner. In the mid-80s, while farming in the Enchant and Lomond areas, he investigated alternative crops to diversify the southern Alberta agricultural industry and provide an alternative fuel source. He was involved in numerous commercial and residential projects. Peter also spent many years as a member of the Picture Butte Lions Club, Picture Butte Chamber of Commerce, and the Lethbridge German Canadian Club.

The family would like to extend their heartfelt gratitude to the wonderful homecare staff who attended to Peter; and to the compassionate staff at St. Michael’s Health Centre - Palliative Care Unit for the excellent care they provided to dad in his final days. We also wish to convey our sincere gratitude to Pastor Lee and the congregation of Immanuel Lutheran Church for their support and prayers. A special thank you to Becky and the rest of the Seely family for your kindness and friendship to both Mom and Dad over the years.

A Visitation will be held at the GERMAN CANADIAN CLUB, 902 – 6 Street North, Lethbridge, AB, on Friday, January 31, 2025 at 12:00 Noon, with a Celebration of Peter’s life to follow at 1:00 P.M. with Pat Siedlecki and Pastor Lee Loveridge officiating.

Following the Celebration of life, Peter will be laid to rest in Mountain View Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to St. Michael’s Health Centre – Palliative Care Unit, 1400 – 9 Avenue South, Lethbridge, AB, T1J 4V5 or Immanuel Lutheran Church, 20 Rocky Mountain Blvd W, Lethbridge, AB T1K 8E1.

We were saddened to hear of Peter's passing. He was truly a special individual. I trust you will be comforted in knowing that he was a man of deep faith in his savior Jesus Christ, and knowing that he has been welcomed into the eternal home that Jesus prepared for him.
