MARJA AGNETA PITT, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the age of 69 years.
MARJA AGNETA PITT, of Lethbridge, passed away at the Chinook Regional Hospital on Monday, September 5, 2016 at the age of 69 years.
She is the loving mother of Michelle (Jamie) Vonk of Lethbridge, Marsha Pitt (Ivan Jones) of Lethbridge, and James "J.J." Pitt of Lethbridge as well as grandchildren Blake, Mason and Matthew Gourley, Jillian Vonk and Jack and Eleanor Jones and one great-granddaughter Lillian Gourley. She is also survived by her sister Lia Van Wassenaar (Roy Shepherd) and three nieces.
She was predeceased by her parents Evert and Caroline.
Marja was born January 3, 1947 in Schiedam, Holland and immigrated to Calgary. She attended the Southern Alberta College of Arts, where she received a Fine Arts Degree. She met her husband James at college. They married and had three children. Marja began a career in security, a job she loved. She enjoyed travelling, painting, gardening and photography, winning a silver award for a photo from the Alberta Summer Games. Marja will be lovingly remembered by her family and friends.
Relatives and friends are invited to meet with the family at MARJA'S HOME, 88 Lafayette Blvd. W, Lethbridge, AB., on Saturday, September 10, 2016, from 1:00 to 4:00 P.M.

Dear Michelle, Marsha, James and beloved family, Our condolances with the passing away of your mother and grandmother. What a terrible news that Marja died at an age we all consider is too young. We wish you all a lot of strength and hope that you are able to find your way forward. We met you and Marja whilst on holiday in Canada. And for us it was clear that Marja formed the center of the family life of you all. We will keep very good memories to Marja, and regret it very much that she is not amongst us anymore. I send my deepest heartfelt condolences for Marsha, Ivan and the rest of your family. My own mother passed away on July 24 and knowing we are together by heart and spirit through media and over the miles makes these times a little bit easier to take. I miss you. Just remember the good times and she will always be with in that way????
Maria, I never could call you mom because I believe you only have one. In saying that, you did has much for me as my own mother did. Michelle, Marsha and JJ, I'm very sorry to hear about your mom. I loved her like she was my own. Hugs and kisses.
